So an estate issue can only be done if GSN wants a new lease apparently. If GSN can't get a new lease, then maybe it's a good idea that GSN inserted Pyramid. But 25K should have stayed if not at 3am then 10:30am. Hopefully GSN is not just looking at Friday night's numbers of $25,000 Pyramid.
Why would there even be an estate issue? Who owns the Pyramid shows? Obviously not Clark since "Pyramid" is airing. Let's not start adding more layers that probably don't exist to this. GSN decided they wanted to air Donny Osmonds version. I guess trying to get better ratings. The rate they are going you could turn on Pyramid next week and after a commercial halfway through it could come back on and Jokers Wild be there because they've determined in the previous 5 minutes they would rather air it instead. No matter what, I give it less than .005% chance this has anything to do with an estate.
Here's what I think happened (this is just speculation): Likely the rights to the 1985-1986 episodes of $25K Pyramid expired, and GSN needed to find something to fill in its time slots. GSN probably originally intended to pick up new episodes of the $25K Pyramid (hence the "new" label on the PDFs), but for whatever reason the attempts to pick up new episodes didn't go as planned, and so they decided to go the Donnymid route instead.
Donnymid is most likely here to stay at this point, but I'm still not convinced that their intention all along was to show Donnymid; if that was the case, they would have just put Donnymid on the PDF schedules in the first place. All this being said, the Donnymid decision was obviously not a planned thing, and its replacement of Clark's time slots have obviously been last minute decisions ($25K Pyramid was still showing up on the Friday night schedule until just yesterday). The question is why they decided to show Donnymid on such short notice; is it that a new lease for $25K Pyramid fell through at the last minute, or is it that they just decided at the last minute that Donnymid would truly be a better choice for the schedule?
25k Pyramid is on Friday night next week, according to the Program Schedule. This is really getting interesting. Maybe they do intend on keeping 25k, but the episodes still aren't ready to air yet? I would think if Donny was the replacement, they would have listed him for next Friday night.
Again, just a theory but I really think the "new" Clark Pyramid shows are not ready to air yet. I have no experience working at a TV network, but I would think they have to make sure all the episodes they want to get work with their equipment. As well as commercial inserts and things like that. I mean, imagine if they put a "new" 25k Pyramid show on and a commercial came on in the middle of a round. That wouldn't be good. And they likely have to make sure all the episodes work and are going to air correctly with their system. Lets say they got 200 "new" shows, they would have to go through each one of those shows and insert commercial placements and whatnot. This is not an overnight thing, it probably takes time. This is my best guess why they keep pushing it back on the schedule. I could be wrong, but maybe this is what the holdup is.
I bet you it will change. I think they're forgetting to update some things. Donnymid will be there. I 100% guarantee it.
I wonder which eps of Donnymid will air next week. No updated PDFs have been released yet.
$25,000 Pyramid is probably there since that is what they had planned weeks ago. I think we'll be seeing Donny's Pyramid for a while.
And looking at the pdf's, season 1 of Donny's Pyramid airs at 10:30am and repeats at 3am, then season 2 episodes air Friday nights. This is a good strategy on how GSN is working this.
I really don't know what the heck is going on anymore. If they were really going to replace Dick with Donny permanently, you would think they'd just tell us that from the outset instead of messing with our heads like this. And for the record, GSN is usually good about keeping the online schedule up-to-date. Plus, according to Alex, they specifically said in an email that Donny was just supposed to be for one week.
So I'm still thinking that they waiting on new episodes of $25K Pyramid, but there's been a delay in converting the tapes. Or they're having difficulty negotiating with Sony over the cost of the episodes. As for Donnymid, maybe they've had the rights all along. They seem to be able to air both seasons, and remember that they took Jeopardy! off the schedule for a while, then brought it back with the same episodes.
GSN's really starting to tick me off with this crap. They're known for this. This network is so unorganized.![]()
