I had to say Bert Convy because, Bert laughed and fooled around a lot as, Allen seemed kind of laid back, if you know what I mean. He laughed of course but, he just seemed kind of mellowed.

I noticed Super Password's games moved a lot slower than Password Plus' games did, and I think Bert Convy was part of the reason why (there are several other reasons as well), which is why I voted for Bert.
Judging by this scientific poll, Convy is a screw up. IMO, he was the bigger screw up on Password. His jokes weren't that funny and his incompetence (intentional or not, most likely forced) was pretty lame.
When he revealed the word, screwing up once is okay but, he did it several times. I'm surprised Mark Goodson Television productions didn't fire him for his embarrassments with that.
When Rip Taylor lost control on the set, Convy couldn't handle it and let it drag on. Not to mention, he took Taylor's wig and placed it on his own chest and claimed he has a hairy chest. Not funny.
I agree his jokes weren't that funny. He sounded like a fake almost, no offense to Bert Convy's fans. But, honestly, I think he's okay.

Bert's goofing around fit on Tattletales but NOT on SP. Looks like he's running away with the votes in this survey.
You must mean the Cashword. I loved the concept of that, and it was a nice perk for the contestants.
But the Magic Toaster...ugh. Betty throwing that thing across the stage (TWICE!) on the last episode was truly epic!!!![]()
One thing to remember about Allen, around 1979, Ludden was developing Stomach Cancer. Later on in his run, he seemed slow because he was sick, and trying to stay alive (which unfortunately didn't happen)
And that round was also good enough that it made it on to Million Dollar Password, only in a slightly different format.
I noticed sometimes on Password Plus some of the jokes were a little inappropriate. Just a little. But I still like P+ better
Allen wasn't diagnosed until early 1980, but certainly, there were at least some effects on his health leading up to his diagnosis...early detection certainly wasn't what it is today. I have read various accounts about what happened, and despite him having a very aggressive form of cancer, he fought very, very hard, and was determined to beat it. He suffered a lot of physical pain in the last several months that he was doing P+, and the surgery and chemotherapy really took a toll on his body. There was speculation that the coma he slipped into in the fall of 1980 was due to a stroke, but it was actually a result of his cancer treatments. In a January 1981 interview, Allen stated that he had suffered a calcium imbalance in his system, "which should have killed me." He also said that he was looking forward to going back to work, if only to show his gratitude to everyone who had sent well wishes during his time away from the public eye. He absolutely did not want to leave the show, and didn't want to disappoint his fans. It's heartbreaking that he wanted to come back so badly, but despite how determined he was in his heart to do what he loved, his body just gave out. So, so sad.![]()
