Donny's Pyramid would do best in what time slot?

Obviously there has been a lot of talk about Donny Osmond's 2002-04 version of Pyramid replacing The $25,000 Pyramid. But, does it deserve the 10:30am slot mixed in with a bunch of classics, in an early daytime slot, or a prime time slot.

Mornings: Since Pyramid viewers already watched Dick Clark there, why wouldn't they watch a more modern, not horrible remake of the fan-favorite game show. But, it also doesn't fit in with other classics in the time period, like Match Game and Password.

Afternoons: A better slot in my opinion, which could help ratings since Lingo (both) and Deal or No Deal aren't doing the best for GSN right now. The only slot from noon up until 3pm that does well is Catch 21. Otherwise, early afternoons show poor ratings, and a "new" acquisition could help.

Primetime: Should Donny's Pyramid be exposed every night just as much as Harvey Feud? Harvey Feud gets the 11pm and 11:30pm slot every day, so should GSN give Donny's Pyramid the same treatment too?

I agree with you that most casual viewers in the morning will still watch Donnymid; the show has its detractors, namely fans of older programming, but it's similar (obviously not exactly the same) to the original $25K Pyramid, and most casual viewers won't let its newness or absence of Dick Clark turn them off. Same applies to Friday nights. Therefore, I don't think the ratings for Donnymid will really be drastically different than those of Clark's version; maybe since Donny's version hasn't been seen in a while, the ratings will be slightly better, but I'm not sure.

I'm still really going to miss Clark's version of the show if it really is gone for good, and my opinion is they should have kept Clark in the 10:30 AM slot and 3:00 AM slot, and put Donny on in the early afternoon on weekdays. DoND isn't doing that well at 1:00 PM, so I don't see why they couldn't have put Donny on there and tried him in that timeslot, and left Dick at 10:30. Obviously Clark was stinking up Friday nights, but he was the highest rated classic in the morning, and I don't think he deserved the ax altogether. There is plenty of room for both Clark and Osmond on the schedule if you ask me.

I predict for ratings that Donny's ratings will probably go way down at 10:30am, but go slightly up on Friday nights. But it's hard to predict GSN's ratings, especially late nights and now the 8am Match Game hour, which has sparked in 2012.

Right now here's what I would do with the schedule provided GSN does still have The $25,000 Pyramid and even Card Sharks...

    8:00am: Match Game
    8:30am: Match Game
    9:00am: Card Sharks (Perry)
    9:30am: Family Feud (Dawson)
    10:00am: Password Plus
    10:30am: $25,000 Pyramid
    11:00am: Super Password
    11:30am: Match Game
    12:00pm: Card Sharks (Eubanks)
    12:30pm: Pyramid (Osmond)
    1:00pm: Lingo (Woolery)
    1:30pm: Lingo (Woolery)
    2:00pm: Catch 21
2:30pm: The Newlywed Game (GSN) or Catch 21

I was actually glad to see GSN put Donnymid back on simply because I had never really seen much of it save a few clips of it here and there. That being said I do hope Clark is not gone.

TO answer your question if $25,00 is coming back why not switch it with Super Password and do Osmond Pyramid at 11:30. It would be a nice transition from the classics to more recent shows. Also drop the 1:30 a.m. Lingo and put it there.

I think anything before noon should be pre-1990's, so that wouldn't work in my book (but with GSN's rules, yes of course). Match Game still does pretty well, but either $25,000 Pyramid (Clark) or Card Sharks could take the 11:30am slot eventually.

I don't see either show coming back anytime this year or next...or even 2014. If anything, knowing GSN's penchant for hasty programming changes, they'll drop more of the old stuff and add more things like Harvey Feud in the mornings!

Oh, back to the question; afternoons sounds the best for Donny.

I agree with what was said in the other thread, suggesting anything before noon for pre 1990s is DUMB.
With that being said, Pyramid would work best in the morning. Team it up with Karn's Feud.

I just remember a couple months ago, when Card Sharks and The $100,000 Pyramid did the best back to back at 10am. Now we saw ratings from a week ago where $25,000 Pyramid almost beat out anything from 8am-3pm. Another classic acquisition should be coming in the next year. I'm hoping for a $25,000 Pyramid lease, or a Match Game lease.

GSN should just look closer at ratings and demos

So, are you against classic shows? Not that there's anything wrong with that of course but let's remember when GSN used to have classics until, say 5pm ET and later on 3pm ET on weekdays.

Modern shows don't work so well within 12-3. I've noticed. From past ratings I've seen, Deal or No Deal doesn't do so well, and Catch-21 with Lingo (Engvall) might do, so-so, haven't been paying much attention. Lingo (Woolery) does awful from what I've seen at Noon ET. The weekday schedule looks stale and could use some freshening up.

Of course, I'm not saying acquire every classic until they go bankrupt, but some classics from 12-3pm could work. I say, appeal to the older fans in the morning-some afternoon and younger fans afternoon-evening. It's ridiculous what GSN does, I think. I'm no genius, but I kind of pay attention to what could work, and what doesn't work.

Three good points here. First, espnews wasn't saying anything against classic game shows. He was saying the before noon if GSN is going to air Donny's Pyramid, they should air it alongside Karn Feud, since they are both from the same year about.

Classics should be shown past noon now. From 12-3pm, the only show that's doing well is Catch 21. Then, Lingo (Engvall) comes in second for that time of day, then higher numbers past 3pm. DOND should go at 1pm, and Woolery might do better in that hour, and then in the noon hour Pyramid alongside Card Sharks or another classic. Just not Family Feud.

It would be impossible for GSN to go bankrupt leasing classics. There aren't enough classics in the world that GSN could spend all there money on. The Harvey Feud acquisition probably cost 10 times more than the recent Password Plus lease, and DWTS costs another 10 times more than Harvey Feud

I posted a schedule on my blog, HERE. If anybody's interested. I just think the current weekday schedule is getting stale.

Yes, I mean what's the point of rerunning these shows over and over again from 1-3pm ET. Lingo (Woolery) isn't really rerun abuse. It had many seasons. If GSN can acquire more classics to fill up until 3pm ET, they should. No use running shows the older generation may not be much interested in. I can't believe how long Deal or No Deal has been on at 1pm ET for. Probably since April 1, 2010 if I recall or something like that. Same with Catch-21 being on at 2pm ET.

I wish GSN would show Woolery's first season, but as we all know the noon hour is doing poor. I think Donny's Pyramid should have gone in at 12:30pm, Woolery Lingo still at noon and $25,000 Pyramid still at 10:30am. DOND should go, and Catch 21 should stay since it's getting good numbers, but they keep showing the same season. It would be nice to see Catch 21 seasons 1-3 instead of season 4 which is starting to have rerun abuse.

Catch-21 has been doing so-so, I'd say. I think there was an over 200K number one day. That's fair compared to some of the other ratings, but they could really do better, I think. The morning-12-2 numbers stink, I think. But if GSN expanded classics to 3pm ET, that would be best, I think.

I don't want an all classic GSN, 3-6pm ET can be basically Whammy!, Chain Reaction, Family Feud (Karn, O'Hurley), and Catch-21. Those could get great numbers there. That would be a awesome schedule, I think. Just my opinion. As I said, I'm no genius but GSN should TRY to appeal to all audiences. Old and new.
