I'll give you the shouting, but I don't buy the other two arguments for a moment. If you watch or read any interview with him, or any accounts of people meeting him, it's clear that he is very passionate about game shows and about interacting with contestants. I'd say that if anything, such overt passion might be what causes to come off as cheesy and over-the-top at times.

Whammy! and Family Game Night are both "louder" more action-packed shows than The $100,000 Pyramid ever will be. But in general, he seems like a loud guy.

I don't see how I conceded that. I'm just saying that I agree that his enthusiasm can be a bit much, but I don't doubt that it's genuine.

After Squares ended, Bergeron was pretty vocal he didn't want to host any more game shows....don't know if he's modified that stance in the years since.
