New advertisement for Family Feud Monday nights

This is the first time I've seen this commercial. GSN is trying to promote the Monday night Karn/O'Hurley block during the Saturday night block, airing right now. Saturday nights for Family Feud is doing (nearly) twice as well as Monday nights. For the week of May 7-13, Karn/O'Hurley episodes didn't top 300K, while the Saturday night episodes received some of the highest numbers of the week.

Anyway, the commercial shows families on Karn and O'Hurley's versions having fun, and then no clips from Harvey's Feud. But, I wish GSN would squeeze in something else on Monday nights. There's a possibility GSN should air Donny's Pyramid on Monday's, and $25,000 Pyramid on Fridays. But my question is...will Dick Clark's Pyramid do better with a possible new lease in prime time? Or was rerun abuse not an issue for The $25,000 Pyramid?

Just possibilities before GSN finally drops block scheduling sometime soon...let's hope.

Also I'll note...2,800 posts for me. A small milestone.

No, I don't think it'd do better with a new lease.

Congrats on the post milestone. Several years ago on another board I reached the status of "God". Not realizing they had left that as the default when you reached that milestone, when they saw what happened they changed it. But it was back when those black road signs from God were all over the place, so I had fun making replies and then signing them "-God."

Off-topic: Post count doesn't mean nothing to me. On the old forum, I had over 9,000 posts. Big whoop. I'm just saying, if you want to note your posts, just put a link of the post you got 2,800 on in your signature.

I agree, heck, people would watch Card Sharks with Jim Perry rerun a lot. I know, because it used to get over 300K along with 25K Pyramid in the 10am hour if I recall. I think 25K Pyramid is doing poorly because GSN had it removed all those Friday's for Dancing with the Stars. Think about it, if I recall, it was doing better before Dancing with the Stars ruined it.

Also, Saturday night Family Feud block may be doing better but, I don't think a promo will convince viewers to tune in for Monday's block. Kind of the same situation with a Dancing with the Stars promo GSN had. They had a promo saying "A real game show, but without the bells and whistles" or something like that.

I agree with the above; I think old-school Pyramid probably would scuffle even if (a huge "if") it gets a new lease. And Feud is simply stretched too thin for any advertising to save Mondays. Simply put, they need to figure out a regular, daily schedule, because the blocks are worn out.

Then GSN should leave Donny's Pyramid on Friday nights, since it raised Prime time averages. And if not Pyramid, then Card Sharks. Card Sharks did best on Flashback Friday last year, and probably could do well in a marathon, even if it is the same season of episodes that saw 300K numbers at 10am

The removal for DWTS and subsequent return when DWTS did horrible ratings didn't help, but in truth I just don't think people want to watch the same game show for 3-5 hours a night no matter what it is, especially when it's on elsewhere in the schedule. Harvey's Feud does well, but it's new and in time I think it will suffer the same ratings decline.

People are going to get tired of Harvey Feud. I think Monday-Friday they should take out the 11 and 11:30pm slot, and air Sherri and Jerry instead. Harvey does "OK" at 11pm, but it's just a repeat of the 5pm episodes.

If I were GSN, I would drop the 10 Harvey Feud slots weeknights at 11 and 11:30pm.

That's what I've been thinking all along. Good point.

GSN should just can the block scheduling, period. I wouldn't want to watch 4 or 5 hours of the same show. That's why the block scheduling is basically bombing. Who wants to sit there and watch 4 or 5 hours of the same thing? GSN should just stick with a prime time schedule for weekday and weekend. And one that's bound to get the best ratings, which shouldn't be hard at all if GSN acquired shows like recent Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, and Who Wants to be a Millionaire? for the weekends. That could do well for the weekend. Along with some Harvey Feud in there and Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?

For weekday, The $100,000 Pyramid, American Bible Challenge, The Newlywed Game, Baggage, Family Feud (Harvey), and some repeats of the shows already aired.

In any case, Block scheduling has to go. It's worked for most networks, but GSN is a small niche game show network, and mainly the best they can do most days is 200K-300K and in some days 400K-500K. If GSN stuck to a good schedule, it could do just as well for them. GSN doesn't THINK.

I'm no genius but I do happen to look at ratings. Maybe it's GSN's mistake for giving them to Douglas.

Of course I think GSN should drop block schedule, but I'm just saying what GSN should do for now. Without block scheduling, GSN would probably average a 350K prime time average. The only marathon schedule that should stay right now is 5th Grader on Sundays and Karn/O'Hurley on Saturdays from 6-11pm each night

Block scheduling is only hurting Family Feud (Harvey). It's the best night on Monday-Friday when it comes to ratings, but it does much better when it's on for just an hour at 5pm.

Come June, even before $100,000 Pyramid and American Bible Challenge air, block scheduling should go, and GSN should stick to a simple Monday-Friday schedule.

    6:00pm: The Newlywed Game
    6:30pm: Baggage
    7:00pm: Deal or No Deal
    8:00pm: Family Feud (Karn)
    8:30pm: Family Feud (O'Hurley)
    9:00pm: Family Feud (Harvey)
    9:30pm: Family Feud (Harvey)
    10:00pm: 5th Grader
    11:00pm: The Newlywed Game
    11:30pm: Baggage
    12:00am: Baggage
    and so on
