I read that differently than you did..."funny" as in odd, since that's not something seen on tv much these days. Back then, people smoked on television all the time.

Yes. Sorry if there was a misunderstanding with my post above. I meant funny as in odd, by seeing someone's cigar smoke off set, and in the 1950's into 1960's smoking was allowed on television shows, as well as commercials
