TPiRecap: 28 May 2012 (Teen Drivers' Special)

How the heck did I know only two cars (not including Showcase) would be won? I just knew it. Almost every other day only offers two cars before the Showcase, so I was expecting this. No, I don't think it's rigged, but still. Talk about a head-scratcher.

The average show usually only has two games won, anyway.

    What's any different about today?

I don't watch TPIR but a Teen Drivers' Special? How long have they had this?

This was the first (and I suspect, only) one.

I hope this would be the only year they do this. It's probably one of the loosest theme weeks ever

The 5,000th show was in the same boat. 6 cars offered in the Pricing Games, one car won in each half.

Price is Right Teen Drivers Special

I have never seen a teen-themed special ever on the show. A few made history as being the first under 18 players.

I don't assume when the show was in the half-hour format (1972-75), 3 PG's feature three cars.

Kate Voegele appeared in the WB/CW series One Tree Hill (Seasons 5-8) (2007-2011) as Mia. She did not return for the series ninth and final season. The series ended in April 2012. Kate's website is here.

Excellent play in More or Less. I didn't see the ARP since the camera was following the subjects when they won the car. It was a rather unique episode, to say the least.

It was visible for a split-second during the celebration. I was lucky to catch it.

And thanks for the correction on Kate Voegele's name. I've made the correction in the recap.

Since the More or Less winners were from the area, the DC News spoiled that win before I even had a chance to watch the episode.

Also, That's Too Much almost seemed like it was set up for a win.

So Golden Road is still MIA, huh? I predicted that Golden Road would be played yesterday, but not surprisingly it didn't.

Maybe they're reserving the season's third and final playing of Golden Road for July 4 or something? After all, they did have Triple Play on the 4th of July special on July 2, 2010, and last year they did have Golden Road on July 4. It wouldn't surprise me if Golden Road ends up getting played on July 4 again this year, and a Corvette offered yet again, only this time it's likely cheaper.

And I am impressed over the More Or Less win. Wins in such game are rare, and it's even more impressive when a teenager wins such game.

And of Donna and Joya in the Showcase, I originally assumed Donna to be the mother, but despite Donna being an older generation name, I was surprised to notice that Donna was actually the teenager.

I realize the current production team want to try new things, but a teen drivers' special? Now we're doing special themes for the sake of doing them.

Probably earlier than that. The last known new episode of Season 40 airs on June 18. (There's still one episode -- the one that was meant for October 7 of last year -- that they've not made good on yet, and that'll likely happen sometime during the summer.)

IMO, if Jeopardy! can have a Teen Tournament every year, TPIR can do an episode featuring 15-17 year olds playing for cars with their parents.

Yeah... 6/19/12. The tape date of the show airing on 6/19, according to TPIR.com's airdate schedule, is July 2011. And it's not listed as a repeat. So, there's the pre-empted episode right there at the end of the season.
