Will the new "pod" type laundry packets ever catch-on?

More brands of laundry soap seem to be trying to sell detergent 'pods' or 'packets' of laundry soap/detergent (which are very similar to the dishwashing detergent packets that are for automatic dishwashers.) Has anyone else already tried these items, and if so, are they the newest great thing since sliced bread, or are they just another passing fad?

I think that these laundry pods are going to be the newest innovention of the 20th century and are gonna replace laundry detergents as the years go by and with newest advancements in washing clothes this year I think laundry pods will be the future of laundry. I can remember when Downy introduced the Downy Ball and when they came out everyone used them and even my mother had a Downy Ball to use when she did laundry and I thought they were the neatest invention. And Downy is the one that started this laundry pod craze and then Tide debuted it's own version of laundry pods I cannot go to Target with my mother without seeing free samples for Tide Pods attached to every Tide bottle and I think Tide really did a smart idea by promoting the Tide Pods by giving people a free sample on some Tide bottles and it's smart marketing if I say so myself. But with great inventions such as this I think it will catch on in the years to come,
    Vinnie
