Maybe the 26 models cost too much money, and the fact that in a 60-minute show, maybe 20 minutes were of actual game play.
Did the models really attract that many male viewers on Deal or No Deal? Or could Deal or No Deal just survive without the models? That's a question I've already stated. I think the models grab some male viewers, and the syndicated version of Deal or No Deal wasn't that bad without the models, but still got cancelled after a year in 2010. DOND I think could survive without models, but I suggested only 22 to save money for NBC if they wanted models
I think it could survive as well without models, but unless people want Howie opening all 26 cases, better have maybe some audience members do it. Just a thought.

The models is one reason I watchedThe cutdown of the models only to 2 (and they weren't the hottest of the bunch IMHO), kind of turned me away from the syndicated version.
The syndicated version wasn't that bad. They had themes, yes. But they didn't milk it for all it was worth.
Take it from someone who was in the audience for an episode of the syndie version. It was quick and painless. A thirty minute show with about an hour's worth of taping. No stupid gimmicks like another case or some other distractions. (Yeah, sure. My episode had an ugly playing.) But it felt more realistic than the hour-long primetime version, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of that if the show was ever revived.

The syndicated version in my opinion was better than the NBC prime time version. Yes, the people holding the suitcases may have been more annoying, but it went faster and was less of a gimmick then the prime time version. I wish GSN would show it again in a good slot (the syndicated version), but I believe it bombed last time
The only thing I didn't like about the syndicated version was that the contestants were opening the cases.
That, along with the low offers from the Banker, gave the impression the game show was extremely cheap in comparison to the primetime version.

I agree, this is exactly why I loved the syndicated version. It was about the contestants and the game. The way it should be.
If they brought back a sane nighttime show like it largely was in the early episodes, I'd totally like to see a revival. Otherwise, forget it.

I noticed that. Even though the top prize is half of what it was from the prime time version to the syndicated version, there were only three cases above $100,000, and in prime time there were seven cases I believe above 100K. But, the syndicated version still seems much cheaper than it should have been.
One thing I have to say that I loved about syndicated Deal or No Deal is that the set didn't change much at all
