Why Catch 21 was cancelled
Casting call.
GSN "cancelled" Catch 21 in 2011 suddenly (without no official announcement) not because of low ratings, or budget issues. I think GSN had a problem with a casting call for Catch 21. Also, GSN had halted production of originals in September of 2011, so this could have been a cause of Lingo to be cancelled too.
In a 2010 episode of Catch 21, I remember a female contestant stating how she got on the show. She said she was sitting alone at a restaurant one day, and had purchased a $2 Yogurt. The woman was approach by another woman, and she asked her if she would like to be a contestant on a game show. The female contestant stated that on the show, and said "A $2 Yogurt got me to win $25,000". So, GSN had to go to measures like this to find people to get on Catch 21, since they had a big order of episodes that year too (130 episodes)
Does anyone remember this? Kind of a random thought that came to me today

GSN's main problem with the casting call was that GSN ordered too many episodes for Catch 21. 130 episode order for season 3 (2009-10), and 130 episodes for season 4 (2010-11)
