Thread: Possible virus

    Possible virus

Has anyone had a problem with a malicious pop up while playing Mahuwong Dark Dimensions? The last two days while playing I.ve exsperienced one of those pop ups that warns you of Viruses presenrt on your computor and to scan now. This pop up only appears while playing dark Dimensions and only while on your site.

I know its a hook because whoever created it is using Microsoft Security Essentials as the Virus remover which would definately be believalbe to some people, However they made some spelling errors such as spelling might "migth"

Since I do not get this pop up anywhere else I'm assuming that on e of your banners is hiding malware.

When this pops up it shuts down the game and your site so someone may want to check things out before someone does click on it.

I wont be playin g anymore for a while...
    Thanks

Lightbulb Not sure, what going on.....

I get the same problem here too yestarday but I really don't believe gsn as a virus. I beleive it just bad pop-ups and/or site ads.

I read some where and watch some where.....

When a bad pop-up or site/site ad come ups you sure report it to microsoft. So, they can check it out and block the site for microsoft internet users.

It said if they think it a bad website you should report the site: (for IE8 and IE9) and IE7 (I think)

1- Go to Tools (at the top, where favorite are) or Safety (on the botom row where the tab show, and on the right)

2- Go to Smartfiler, under smartfiler look for report unsafe website

3- Click on it "report unsafe website"

4- When it take you to a feedback page, where it display the site that you are reporting (make sure it the pop-up address or the site ad address and not gsn)

5- Click on one of the two blocks or both blocks where it ask:
I think this is a phishing website or I think this website contains malicious software

6- Type the security letters at the bottow (where it said Type the characters you see in the picture) and then when done click sumbit

That the end it said "Thanks for feedback, it the meantime microsoft will take a look at your feedback and check it out, Thanks".

Then to make you computer more safe from the ad or pop-up, to Ctrl+Alt+Del, click on Task Manger and click on the website in the Task box and press End Task. When a message will come up end task and click End Now. This is to insure that the pop-up/as is not still running and harming your computer.

    I hope this helps

I am getting the same thing when I play bingo in the casino. I was looking for contact information or live chat to notify GSN about the virus because if you click on it it will shut your computer down. I thought it was for real and click and had to get the Microsoft guy on the phone to get the virus off my computer. It has been a nightmare. First time it messed up my computer up completely and it took me two weeks to get it back to a working state along with the Microsoft guys. I had to pay for that service which covers you for a month. I never will click on anything like that again. I thought it was real. Be careful out there. Still looking at how to contact GSN.

I got this too, and I only spend time here in the forums. I can't believe I almost fell for it, because I didn't look close enough and it really did look like a Security Essentials message...when I clicked on the "Clean PC" button, it asked to run or download a setup.exe file, which I knew wasn't right, so I hit cancel, and the same virus message popped up again, so I just closed the browser.

It happened to me twice today, both times while playing Lingo, and on two different computers. I clicked on nothing and just re-booted my pc. I have sent a trouble shooting request to the GSN "help" desk. I am going to take a break and not risk getting a virus and wait to hear back from GSN. If I hear anything, I will post it here if someone else hasn't already.

On Friday I was playing Bejeweled for oodles when my computer went beserk and crashed. I had to pull the battery out because Crl+Alt+Delete didn't even work to shut it down. I took it to BestBuy and the Geek Squad guy took a look and said my computer did not like the GSN website. I opted to restore my computer back to factory condition with the discs I made when I bought my computer because BB wanted 380.00 to do further research on the exact problem and I was not going to spend that kind of money! I did get the same message today like others, but after running scans, etc it did not affect me. I have always been wary of the cheaters on the leaderboards because I know they aren't doing it for the paltry 200-300 oodles. The WOF cheater last week that someone wrote about also was on the Bejeweled leaderboard so now I am really suspicious that this website is being used by these hackers for other intents. I know that this is an unsecure site, but I can't play the games unless I tell the computer OK. So now, I am in the same quandry of whether or not to continue to play games on GSN. I did play yesterday and today, but I don' feel totally at ease doing so.

annd about the cheaters on here you would think GSN would do somethin g about it.
But I guess when your big and famous you really dont give a flip about fairness.

I'm sorry for those who got hit with this virus I've been there done that so I knew exaCTLY WHAT IT WAS.

Warning once you click on any part of the message or even try to close it with the x they have you.... So dont click just Reboot

I think the virus relates to one or more of the ads because I've gotten the pop-up or Norton notice exactly when the banner ad flips to a new one (I never get to see what it is because my page goes blank). DO NOT click the pop-up box that claims to be from Microsoft Essential Services. It is BOGUS. Good luck!
