Match Game (Canada) vs. Match Game (U.S.)

I've been reading about this new updated version of Match Game for Canada for a little while and it sounds interesting. How is that version different from the beloved U.S. version? I understand the dollar amounts are different (Canadian) than U.S. dollars. I wished those in The States could see this and I've never heard of most of the celebrities used in this current update of the classic. Most I think are Canadian celebrities with maybe a couple of American stars joining in, but not sure.

Just saw the first episode up on YouTube. Honestly... I don't think it's all that great.

Perhaps you should practice what you preach, Steve.

To be quite honest, it's not that bad for a revival. At least it's a million times better than the last version from 1998.

I actually enjoy the new version. Partially because it was filmed in a studio about 10 minutes away from where I live, but also because they tried to remake the show using the best elements from the history of the series.

There is a lot of panel interaction, most of the questions are G rated, however their answers are generally PG-13 though. Like I said in my review of the show, there is no innuendo in this version, everyone will spout out exactly what they're thinking, though they'll use less offensive words though.

Spoiler question/answer for a future episode below:

An example was: "The waiter was so clumsy he tripped and my plate of food landed in my *blank* ". And more than one panelist used the word: "lady hole" for their answer. I was scratching my head, because I would have thought that "lap" was the definitive answer, but whatever, that's just the way these Comics/Celebrities use to get a few extra laughs.

Just highlight the text above to see it.

The remix of the original theme song turned out really decent. It's modern, but it's very familiar, and it includes the best bits such as the beginning of the main theme, the main theme, the ticket plug all rolled into one.

They even put the contestants on a spinning turntable! You can't get more retro 70's than that!!!

The announcer of the show sounds exactly like the host though, which is kind of interesting, but it was probably taped beforehand and added in during the editing. Also something that was was filmed before the taping of each episode was the "funny faces" where the preview screen back stage showed a green screen while the music was playing in the background, and for the final cut, the intro was complete with the "funny faces" as one scene.

Thanks for posting the youtube links. It wasn't too bad for a remake and a show that is just starting to find its chemistry. It was good seeing any version of MG that isn't rerun abuse (ahem! GSN).
Bring High Rollers to GSN please!

And the fun thing is that they have a second channel dedicated to Classics, "Comedy Gold" that airs Match Game '73, uncut. So I get to watch the best of both worlds. A decent remake with Classic touches and the original Classic itself without credit crunches!

Watched the clip for the episode on Youtube. Yvette looks familiar for whatever reason and I know Colin Mocherie. But otherwise I don't know any of them!

She's on Community, but is best known to us as appearing on the debut week of The Pyramid.

    I officially hate you.

I predict a disc trade in our future.
