How to find a copy of a classic game show?

    Hello,

My father-in-law tells me that he was on "To Tell The Truth" around 1958, where we was pretending to be a volcano expert.

Where could I try to find a copy of this episode?

    Many Thanks!
    Brian

Interesting. First, I doubt To Tell the Truth will air anytime (soon) again on GSN. I want it to, but I doubt it and I would prefer a few other classics over it. And this is also 1958, not 1988 or even 1978, so this goes back very far.

I just hope the tape is still in existence.

Your best bet is this guy...Marshall Akers, a well-known TTTT expert:

I really hope for your sake that your "wow, really" wasn't a snarky jab at Marshall Akers for being a To Tell the Truth expert who may in fact be able to help the OP out.

Yeah, I sent Mr. Akers an email at the same time I made this post...haven't heard back from him yet. I hope that the tape exists. It would be great to see my f-in-l youthful and on a gameshow... BTW he said that he fooled 2 of the panelists!

Did your father-in-law's TTTT appearance make it to GSN?

I don't know if it did or not... so I thought that GSN might have more access to tapes, in the event that it did air on GSN. I do realize that in those days they would often tape over existing tapes with new shows... so it's entirely possible that we'll never have access to it... but it's worth asking!

If you had GSN no later than say, 2006, then you may very well have your father-in-law's TTTT appearance from a GSN airing. BTW, what was the sponsor when your father-in-law appeared on the show and what Game # of the episode did he appear in?
