I felt really bad that Norm MacDonald is not a commentator of the show. He was really good in the previous shows and now Kaplan is also doing really good. I am a great fan of this show and love to watch this show.

FIRE norm immediately... he is HORRIBLE. listening to him repeat actions (xx raises, xx folds, xx steals) irritates the hell outa me. whats worse is when he attempts to analyze plays or predict what players will do when he has absolutely no clue about the players' thought process. get ANYone else to host this thing

Norm... The guy is funny, witty, and was the best weekend update on SNL. But who in their right mind would think that he could be any kind of poker commentator. That's like saying Jerry Seinfeld should be announcing hockey games. Commentating on poker is more than putting girl in a skirt and a comedian on the mike. Heck, Norm would be better off saying "work, work, work, work, and so-n-so wins the pot" instead of actually trying to call the plays. I have now had to start watching high stakes poker with my finger on the mute button. So sad, so sad.

Eventually some executives might learn that poker is a game that requires knowledge. And finding an individual that can combine that knowledge with entertaining banter is the key to an attractive broadcast. At this point, there are only 2 poker shows where both these goals are met... well... now... we are down to just the one.

I agree with most of what's being said about replacing Gabe Kaplan. The entertaining element of watching High Stakes Poker was the insight provided by Gabe. Norm offers little to no background to the action. Not that it's his fault, really, I blame the producers who must have felt people watching poker really wanted to watch a comedy show. The show is about poker and the reasoning and mechanics of the players. I don't know why people are betting the way they do, and Gabe did - Norm does not. It is pretty much unwatchable. I like Norm as a comic, but he is not a play by play announcer. Anyone remember Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football? Me neither.

Please bring back Gabe. Poker may be on the way out as a game worth watching. I still miss the complete 3 hour final table games from World Series of Poker they used to have on Travel Channel. These producers need to realize those who watch poker are wanting a certain type of entertainment, and there is very little middle ground other than hearing the players talk and having commentary by someone who knows more, probably alot more, than the average viewer. Another comparison might be the difference between watching a good movie with Martin Scorsese or the guys from Mystery Science Theatre.

What a superb dialogue on HSP!!!! You hit every note this season!!!! Yes the show has lost its flavor, which began as you and the rest of us poker players did last year with the loss of AJ , now Gabe....And where in the world did Sammy Farha go?????? Sheesh then it has been dropped from the sunday night slots here in my region(Mid-West)!!! I am sick! Some of my favorites i have t-vo'd and have watched them numerous times! And yes, I'm glad Durr is gone this year, so many times he got so incredibly lucky that it's a wonder some of his bad beat receipients didn't have a brain aneurysm and put a fist through a wall! And he is overwhelmingly arrogant! I really think GSN has lost their minds decreasing the episodes aired. At any one time, there (were) anywhere from 350,000 players on stars and 250000 players on tilt. Thousands of poker players throughout the country and over seas (look how many ponied up $10000.00 to enter the Main Event of WSOP)!!! What are they thinking!!!! I am in poker withdrawal! And yes , I miss Gabe Kaplan terribly, i would listen and go over key hands and understand his reading ability and deep understanding of the game, both mathmatically and psychologically! WE miss you GAbe!!!!!!

Oh eryan you said it !!! I totally agree! Norm isn't funny commentating on poker!! Gabe however several times had me with tears running i was laughing so hard(remember the four K's hand when the other guy lost $123000 attempting a 7-2 bluff) I have that one t-vo'd and watch it on occasion.....it still tears me up and I know verbatim what is coming!! Poker players and game players watch High Stakes poker, not to be lightly entertained, but to learn, analyze and admire the fine poker(and there has been some superb poker) these top players are capable of! Im also missing the WSOP, only No-Limit hold-em was aired this year.....not even the elite Horse championship that introduced the viewing public to undoubtably one of the best to ever play, the late Chip Reese. Ohhhhhhh, what are we gonna do? Hey I know............why doesn't full-tilt and poker-stars open up their very one television channel???? Ah blissful heaven 24 hour non-stop poker......... I'd never sleep!!!lol!

I probably shouldn't post here, but I can't resist it cause it's been bugging me for a while. I Hate Poker on TV, especially the looong hours it takes up on weekends. I watch during the day but totally switch channels when Poker comes on. Almost anything is better than watching that.

Sorry, but it's gone for good.

Wow, it's been a year now since it was taken off. It bombed though towards the end
