Same thing happened to me, but I was only about 20 yards away. I was in first grade and it was lunch time. We all had to line up to get into the cafeteria, and there were these large windows on the side. Lightning struck a tree right outside the building. I don't remember too much from the moment except for the loud clap of thunder and everyone who saw it jumped and/or screamed when it happened. I wish I was a little older than a first grader at the time, so that I'd remember it a little bit better.
