How do you grade GSN do far this year?

    Taken from my blog:

It's...The GSN THE KNOW....MID-YEAR....MIDTERM REPORT CARD!

That's right. We break down the year so far this year in GSN's history. First, the sucesses....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCIC0sBmzeM

Family Feud and Fifth Grader topple teh ratings almost every week. The reason: The acquisition of Steve Harvey's version of Feud. It seems that he can take a calssic and make it his own. his radio show, his soon to be TV talk show and pretty soon, a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame has made it an empire he's making. 2 legends passed away and they were Dick Clark and Richard Dawson. GSN did no wrong by paying tributes to them, but the Richard Dawson tribute paid respects including the 1994 family Feud episode GSN has never seen in a long while. We said hello to 2 classics retuning: Password Plus and Super Password. It was a long time coming, but it was worth it and they perform poorly ewach week. Along with new to the network episodes of 25K Pyramid, Sherriwed and Baggage also did it with open arms. But now we get to the failrues.....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KS7zX...feature=relmfu

There were a lack of classics. There are 5 instead of more we used to have 2 years ago. And there's a Feud overload. I don't get it. Too much Feud made you wish youd watch an All-Sportscenter channel, but it wouldn't happen. Then there's block scheduling. Right now, tehre are 3 Feud nights, but we still have Flashback Fridays and Baggage Wednesdays, Sherriwed tonight and Fifth Grader on Church day. Rerun Abuse always kicks in, why? because they want to, but of course, save for the biggest failure....DWTS on GSN. It was like in-laws moving in your house for the holidays and you've decided to move out to another house for safekeeping. The ratings slid down each week like a child on a slide at a playground. For all this, I grade GSN for the first 6 months of 2012....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNCcvap3zGk

a c minus. If it needs improvement, wait until August and you'll see. Now, the predictions....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwhPO...feature=relmfu

Lingo may be on the brink of cancellation, but i predict it may get a new season...

Baggage is coming to synidatcion soon, and it may knock the Stove Top stuffing out of.....whatever's on your antenna right now.

The American Bible Challenge and Beat The Chefs would become overnight runaway hits......

Pyramid may inject Fifth Grader and Feud out the top spots for good.....

War of the Roses may bomb quickly......

and finally, Real Life games may be pushed back, pushed back, pushed way back to next year. That ends the report card. What's your grade on it and what did you think of my predictions?
Past Videogame Marathon champions: Michelle Wie, Rob Cesternino, Marie Digby, Quentin "Rampage" Jackson and ijustine.

I grade it a C+. At least, despite removing my favorite classic, Card Sharks, off the lineup last April, the returns of Password Plus, Super Password, and brand new episodes of $25,000 Pyramid really makes up for the removal of CS. Not to mention that, despite Card Sharks being on the air last year, my grade last year was a D- because of rerun overkill of the classics. Nothing different, classicswise, last year. Thank goodness this year made up for last year's overkill. Not to mention that I didn't really care for Card Sharks minus the car game.

What I predict will happen later this year:

    - Match Game and Dawson's Family Feud will finally go off the air after 14 years.

    - $25,000 Pyramid will get rerun overkill by the fall (they'll revert back to June 20, 1986 on Friday nights by August or September).

If any or both of these events happen, it won't affect my grade at all.

Damn. I was going to create a thread on this called "2012: First half". This is good enough

I'd give it higher than a C+ later. More to come...

So from above, my general grade for January through June of 2012 is...

    A- (about a 91/100).

This of course, is from all the "bad" in 2011. And as mentioned in another thread, the schedule is packed with traditional game shows.

    D+

Too much Family Feud and WAYYYY too much Dancing With The Stars (especially the hype with the commercials). However, classics like Whammy and Chain Reaction came back to the schedule, so that saves GSN from getting an F from me. Not to mention, even though I said there's too much Feud, they brought in Steve Harvey's version. For this channel, that's another plus. Still, not too impressed with GSN so far this year, but that's my opinion.

I'll give it a B- and work on up if GSN becomes any better. All the pros I like, but GSN should have never gotten rid of Card Sharks (Perry) at 10am. That was gold there along with 25K Pyramid. So, here's what I would do to fix the program schedule.

    Weekday:
    8:00am - Match Game
    8:30am - Family Feud (Dawson)
    9:00am - Match Game
    9:30am - Family Feud (Dawson)
    10:00am - Card Sharks (Perry)
    10:30am - The $25,000 Pyramid
    11:00am - Password Plus
    11:30am - Card Sharks (Eubanks)
    12:00pm - Jeopardy!
    12:30pm - Super Password
    1:00pm - Pyramid (Osmond)
1:30pm - Deal or No Deal (Syn)
    2:00pm - Whammy!
    2:30pm - Chain Reaction
    3:00pm - Lingo (Woolery)
    3:30pm - Lingo (Woolery)
    4:00pm - Catch 21
    4:30pm - Catch 21
The rest would basically stay the same, I wouldn't change anymore.

I put Whammy and Chain Reaction at 2pm because it might do well in ratings, and Woolery Lingo should go in at 3pm again. Catch 21 has done well at 4pm to.

Pyramid (Osmond) and Deal or No Deal (Syn) are put there for some airtime.

I put MG and FF from 8-10am because they deserve somewhat more respect than they are getting now. Well, there is reasoning behind this scheduling.

At this point, I would want Dawson to leave unless he gets a new lease with a better timeslot, otherwise I don't care. I want Match Game to stay, even if it is in the 8am hour. If Match Game leaves, then my grade for GSN would drop from an A- to a solid B.

    C for me.

Positives: Harvey Feud added, Password returns, new episodes of 25k Pyramid
Negatives: DWTS (still lurking in the background, could return permanently), proposing five new reality shows, way too much Feud shown, Card Sharks gone, Dawson Feud and Match Game getting way beyond stale.

That still hasn't happened yet at least (the reality shows). It was proposed, but it's not a major con of the first half. But PRODUCING those shows may be a major con towards the second half of the year.
