This is probably just filler until the new originals debut anyhow.
Catch 21 was probably the dumbest GSN cancellation ever, even dumber than Lingo in 2007. Woolery's Lingo may be #2.

With no advertisement for new episodes at all in 2010 and 2011, Catch 21 kept getting pushed back to different time slots, and still beat out ratings for Improv, Love Triangle, and even Baggage. Catch 21 originally aired at 5:30pm at the beginning of its 4th season, then 4:30pm (with Power of 10 entering the 5pm hour), and then was placed at 5pm in the Spring of 2011.

In all those time slots, Catch 21 always got ratings above 300K, and half of the time near and above 400,000.

Don't worry. It'll still be around

Family Feud won't die anything soon. GSN has more than 1100 episodes leased between Karn and O'Hurley, and an additional 315 for Harvey right now. There are plenty of cycles of Family Feud that can air on the schedule a couple times, and would still have no rerun abuse. By the end of 2012, Karn and O'Hurley will get cut down from their 25-ish slots a week now to the teens, but will still prove will in ratings' ranks.

Then apparently 1 vs 100 and Power of 10 didn't have much of an effect on GSN in this case after all. It was still very nice to have them

Turns out with this change, every night of block scheduling has been changed since November, except Tuesdays. Back in November...

    Mondays
    7PM: Million Dollar Password
    8PM: Power of 10
    9PM: 1 vs 100
10PM: Who Wants to be a Millionaire
11PM: Deal or No Deal (should have been 5th Grader)

Tuesdays: The Newlywed Game (still the same)

    Wednesdays: Baggage

    Thursdays: Deal or No Deal

    Fridays
    7PM: Match Game
    8PM: $25,000 Pyramid
    9PM: Card Sharks
    10PM: Dawson Feud
    11PM: $100,000 Pyramid

Since then, GSN has had a consistency of just airing one show on one night, instead of trying something like they had on Monday and Friday nights last Fall. Now, they should simply mix an hour or two of Baggage into Tuesday nights, and $100,000 Pyramid on Friday nights in the 10pm hour. A little more variety there.

The pdfs are up on the blog if you want to check the episode numbers. I personally like Deal or No Deal a lot more than Catch 21. Don't have much use for Alfonso. But it's no big deal (pun intended) because the show has enjoyed such a long run on GSN. Once upon a time DOND was keeping this network afloat. Just looked at the numbers for April 12-18 2010, for instance. DOND had eleven of the top twenty slots, all of them with 420K or more viewers.

So far no other changes on the schedule, but good news for people wanting to see a different season of Catch 21. GSN will air season three episodes of Catch 21 on Thursday nights, from late 2009 and early 2010.

Very good; now if only they'd pull out the first and seconds seasons.

I could live without. I believe season 3 also has 130 episodes. It would nice to see Catch 21's season 1 and 2, but it's not near the top of my GSN wishlist. I would like to see the old set, but there wasn't much of a difference in gameplay.

I'm watching DOND on TV right now at 9 pm EST on Thursday night. So much for the Catch 21 change.

The change doesn't start until next week.

Okay, yeah. That was stated in the first post of this thread. My bad, sorry.

With this change now official (sort of) on the pdf's, Deal or No Deal could soon now become a weekend only show. It has the 1pm slot on weekdays, but GSN could move that soon. I'm hoping Donny's Pyramid could pick up a slot weekdays. Pyramid and Wheel of Fortune would be the best for early afternoons, along with Lingo

Also with this change, Deal or No Deal is losing all primetime slots for the first time since November. DOND had prime time slots from 2009 up until April 2011, and then was replaced with new shows like Improv, Love Triangle and Lingo, then put back in November

When block scheduling first started I thought it was a good idea, now I'm not so sure. As I said earlier, replacing one show you've run in the ground with another you either have or are hell bent now on doing so doesn't accomplish a whole lot.

It could be better, it could be worse. But from the beginning, GSN should have started block scheduling at 8, then ended it at midnight, then we'd have it cut at the 11pm hour with Harvey. So we should have block scheduling only from 8-11pm.

Good to see they aren't touching The $25,000 Pyramid.

Good to see they're going with a different season. Would still like to see season 1 again. The theme music was better, and the set was better.

That's the season they should air at 2:00pm. Maybe Seasons 1 and 2.
