Prizes in auctions
I bid 349,000 oodles for the Nikon COOLPIX AW100 Camera last night. I didn't expect to win the auction, and I was correct. Now then, I'm curious if anyone bid more than this amount; state if the bid resulted in a win or not as well.
Moving forward, this thread may be used for all auctioned items as well. All that is asked: state the item (after the auction is final), the amount bid, and the results of the bid in each post.

I've recently won two blu-ray DVD auctions... I bid around 45,000 for them. It's a much better deal than buying the regular DVD outright. Those go for around $5.00 and cost nearly 40,000 oodles. The blu-rays retail for around $15.00 or so. And I don't know for sure, but I think the daily gift card (which is usually a $10.00 Amazon card) is going for more than 44,000 because I've bid several times and lost. Not sure what the winning bids on those are.

It shows that Donald F. from Holt, MI won the camera mentioned above. I looked up on the manufacturer's website that the camera cost $349.95, but it wouldn't be surprising if stores sold it for cheaper. Anyway, congrats to Donald for the win! I hope he will reply with what he bid, as I am curious how much I need to save for items like this.
Thanks squish for the Blu-Ray DVD auction feedback. I don't really bid on those as most of the titles aren't interesting, but I read on the board that the movie title doesn't mean a thing to some bidders -- I'll leave it at that, lol.

If the camera is that expensive (or even close) I would say it had to go for probably well over 500,000 oodles. But of course, we won't know for sure unless Donald F. shows up here and lets us in on it.

I actually bid on the Blu-Ray DVD last night and won! I went with 44,444 which is lower than you said you bid. I guess you are sharing the wealth eh, squish, lol.

A few weeks ago I won a $100 gas card for 276,388 oodles
-
Congrats, swm! It definitely helps if it's a less-popular title. I look at the meter for hot/cold. Good for you for getting it cheaper!
And sassy, that really is a very decent price (these days) for that gas card! Congrats!

Even though I have 526,000 oodles, I made a bid of 406,000 on the camera. I wanted to go all in, but I wanted to bid what I thought was a fair amount of oodles, hoping that someday people will stop over bidding.
-
Well there's one person who outbid me for the camera. It's nice of you to speak up with your bid amount itsthatgirl! I agree, the bid amounts are exorbitant on most prizes. I wouldn't put it past people to bid over 500,000 Oodles, but I would still like to know how much Donald bid!
On a different note, I received the three Dick's Sporting Goods $25 gift cards today in my home mailbox. They all arrived in one envelope, which I don't mind.

For those of you (like myself) who like knowing winning bids on "Bid for It prizes"...I managed to win yesterday's daily gift card auction ($10 Amazon card) with a bid of 58,018 Oodles. I hope I didn't grossly overbid, but I don't think I did since I bid basically the same thing all week and didn't win any of those.
-
ctys0n, thank you! I've been super curious about how much those have been going for. Yeah, if you didn't win it throughout the week, you can safely assume you bid what was necessary to get it.
It just seems steep when you look at it in comparison to the Breast Cancer Fund donations. There, your oodles are worth $1.00 for every thousand oodles. But the value decreases immensely for most everything else-- especially the gift cards which are such a rare and desired commodity. There, you can see that the value was $1.00 = 5,800 oodles.
But it does feel good to get something, doesn't it? Congratulations!

I bid for the 2 cool package in may 2012 and won it for 140,000
-
I remember that prize. Congratulations! Were you happy with it?
-
ctys0n You were lucky to get the Amazon card for only 58,018 oodles. I bid on the same type of gift card in March and again in May of this year. After a week of bidding on each one, and not being the highest bidder, I went approx. 5,000 above my previous bet. I got the March one for 91,678 oodles and the May one for 96,893 oodles. It was an outrageous amount to spend but I had the oodles and I do shop at amazon so I tried for it. shocked when i won.

Wow, arline. Were those by any chance on the "Bonanza" days? Or were they just regular ole' everyday auctions (like the regular Gift Card Auction of the Day)?
