    GSN Ratings July 2-8

Cableranker has released a listing of all the cable networks for the week of July 2nd. GSN averaged 306K/230K, primetime/total day, ranked 40th in primetime and 44th in daytime.

Still a pretty good week for GSN. Tuesday and Thursdays (Catch 21 block) may have weighed down the rest of the schedule, and possibly Monday didn't perform as well as other weeks.

Daytime is also a little lower, considering we have Family Feud doing pretty well all around. This was the week with Dancing with the Stars, so I expected some negative impact.

Here's the link to the ratings, in case anyone missed it in the other thread: http://sonofthebronx.blogspot.com/20...ares-july.html

Catch 21 didn't do particularly worse than you'd expect anything else besides Family Feud to do on weekday nights. Still, they might as well try different things. 5th Grader does great on Sunday nights, but didn't do so hot on weekday afternoons, so the jury's still out on how it will fare on a weekday night. Hey, it's worth a shot, and if nothing else it will acclimate people to seeing Jeff Foxworthy on Thursday nights.

Other than that, DWTS bombing is no shocker. Just goes to show that the numbers for their regular morning schedule really aren't bad for the daypart.

I noticed Catch 21 during the day got some numbers lower than average, but I really think this week Dancing with the Stars pulled down daytime averages everywhere. Normally a straight flow of classics and modern shows all day builds up to 2pm, where we see 300K+ numbers almost everyday for Catch 21, Lingo, Whammy! and Chain Reaction. But Dancing with the Stars really crashed that this past week.

Catch 21 did poorly and probably did worse the next week. I just wish GSN will air those season 3 episodes in daytime now, because they're fresh and haven't been seen in a while.

I agree that Dancing really hurt that afternoons with it's awful lead ins. At least Catch 21 & Whammy started bringing people back in the 3PM hour. That continues to be a strong hour.

As with any changes, I think Catch 21 would improve at least a little on Thursday nights... Unfortunately, GSN is replacing it after only 2 weeks so guess we'll never see. Since they are airing Season 3, I think more people would tune in once they realized they were episodes that haven't aired in a long time.

I think Dancing with the Stars even hurt the 5-7pm Family Feud block daily, since Harvey didn't perform as well this week. No big 500K's for him.

DWTS has actually been more of a bomb than Improv, which I didn't think was possible.

Catch 21 has had a horrible run in primetime, which is why new episodes have always been aired late afternoons and no later than the 6:30pm slot, except in 2008, its first season. I just hope some of Catch 21's third season episodes can been seen in daytime soon, since its being ran three times a day

I also have to mention weekend ratings here, since there a many things to point out from July 7-8.

Saturdays started out pretty well with Password Plus, getting 129K at 9am. Whammy! rose ratings, and Chain Reaction gets a high 234K at 10:30am. The Newlywed Game, as always falls in the 11am hour with 169K and 167K. Million Dollar Password continues good ratings at 238K, and then Deal or No Deal did phenomenal from 1-3pm, with 341K (1pm) and 355K (2pm), both slots landing well into the top 50. Sherri's mini-marathon averaged 214K, low compared to usual.

Late nights on Saturdays with The Newlywed Game and Baggage average 232K, great numbers for the midnight, 1am and 2am hours.

Password Plus hit a low on Sunday with 61K at 9am, and the rest of the day wasn't too much better until late afternoons and primetime. The $25,000 Pyramid averages 166K in the noon hour, and then Deal or No Deal gets 118K (1pm) and 178K (2pm), some of the lowest numbers of the week. Karn Feud averaged 267K in the 3pm hour, O'Hurley averaged 325K at 4pm, and Harvey at 5pm gets 359K then at 5:30pm: 522K, #3 of the week. It must have been a big episode.

I noticed late nights on Sundays really perked with Deal or No Deal at midnight with 307K, and then The $25,000 Pyramid with 271K and 261K, making up for the noon hour mess
