They're dropping the Viacom channels. From what I heard, Viacom wants DirecTV to pay $1 Billion for their networks. This will all get sorted out eventually. And, GSN probably will never be the victim because DirecTV owns stake in GSN, but who knows.

I heard about this and it shocked me that Direct TV will no longer have Nickelodeon TV Land Country Music Television and BET and they announced a warning the day before and when I was watching Whammy during commercial breaks Direct TV had a whole channel with the CEO of Direct TV talking about the new impressive changes for their lineup and he mentioned that Nickelodeon WILL make a comeback very soon and told people to be patient until it comes back. My mother and I watched Nick At Nite because they showed Yes Dear and George Lopez and now that Nickelodeon and TV Land is gone all we watch now is Family Guy. But Direct TV has a very special surprise for us being patient starting today and we can now watch Hub Network Boomerang Encore and many other channels until July 31st and in my mind it's a great way for Direct TV to show people how much they care. At least for me I'm glad to get Hub Network because I now have the chance to see Todd Newton on Family Game Night,

I agree, Viacom definitely looks like the bigger rat in this situation. It's so hilarious. There's a facebook page launched to try and plead their case about their DirecTV battle, and get support from their consumers. Most of the comments are anti-Viacom and they're not falling for their ish. It's clearly obvious Viacom is trying to force a rate increase of 30% for their channels and DirecTV was having none of it. And this is 30% more for channels that people ALREADY have. This is a company worth almost $15 billion. I'm not going to feel sorry for them or hear any crap about why they need MORE money.
This kind of stuff is why people get fed up, get rid of subscription television, and go to the Internet and go to either Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, or free file hosting download sites to get their entertainment. And I agree with the angry parents pointing out the videos being used on Nick Jr and Nickelodeon's websites that you can't avoid or close out when going there about this are very classless and low-brow.... it's not like this is some real movement or something. It's nothing more but for the sake of corporate greed and more $$$ in their pockets.
There are no winners here; and the one that gets screwed the most yet again is the little man.

Huge (for percentage of GSN owned by DirecTV). But whoever has DirecTV it doesn't look like it's going anywhere. It's a good thing I don't have to worry about. Cable providers like Comcast and Fios only take away cable stations that either do very poorly or are about to end, like SoapNet at the end of 2011
The fact that they're taking down full episodes of their shows off their official sites while DirecTV has reportedly given its consumers free access to Encore movie channels during this whole situation really says a lot.
