I agree that it's not the same as having the channels in the first place. But the point is, one's giving everyone free access to premium channels that usually cost extra for a lot of people to fill a temporary void. The other during the same void is removing EVERYONE'S access to their content online, even if it includes people not involved in this DirecTV mess because they didn't get what they wanted. It's easy to see who the worst person is in this debate IMO.
