I agree that it's not the same as having the channels in the first place. But the point is, one's giving everyone free access to premium channels that usually cost extra for a lot of people to fill a temporary void. The other during the same void is removing EVERYONE'S access to their content online, even if it includes people not involved in this DirecTV mess because they didn't get what they wanted. It's easy to see who the worst person is in this debate IMO.

Ditto, but at least DIRECTV actually cares.

I mean I could care less on the premium movie channels, where I could get them on DVD, pause/play them and watch them whenever I want. It's just going to go away anyway when these other cable channels come back to DirecTV. They're just trying to make it as a quick fix solution.

Slightly, or else they would have tried to negotiate a deal faster with Viacom

They're doing their best. It takes time you know. We're not in the TV provider business.

Hopefully they'll come up with a deal soon, but it's a lot easier said then done. But it does sound like this Viacom company, which I've never heard of before now is being harsh on DirecTV

Viacom has been around for a long time....huge company. I got rid of Directv because they don't offer the same quality anymore that Verizon or some cables are offering at this time.Had them since 98 or 99.....shame, but had to do it.

But, no doubt, Viacom is the villain here.....can't fault DTV for what Viacom is doing. Kind of reminds you of Fox did a few months ago...doesn't it?

A lot of people get DirecTV for its sports package, where they get all the games everyday through MLB network, which is why a lot of sportsfans and bars get DirecTV

The only thing the v of doom has done that is good is tributes, but they have done so much bad like

Take down stuff off youtube for copyright violation, then secretly creating channels to upload v stuff and complain about that
Ruin the credits, yes I went there
Refuse rights of V shows to other stations
    viacom sucks

They get DIRECTV for NFL TICKET.

DIRECTV should just pay up and swallow their prides. At least when you compare them to the other competition (DISH Network), they look better.

Yes...you can get MLB Package, NBA on many outlets. NFL is specific to Directv monopoly right now....if you are a hockey fan, believe it or not, Verizon doesn't offer the NHL Center Ice Package to certain areas where there are multiple cable stations( like CSN, MSG etc.). This happens to me...may change. But NFL is pretty much just Directv unless you want to count NFL Network.

Ok Correct. DirecTV gets all the football games no matter where you are in the 48 states, and a lot of people, including bars will stick to DirecTV because of this package.

As a Directv sub, I am glad Directv didn't "pay up." I'm sick of my bill which regularly is already over $100 a month with NO premium channels and before counting sports packages I order. I am glad Directv stuck it to them and based on where the channels are now decisively obliterated Viacom in this battle. Not quite sure how Dish looks so much better seeing as how they recently dropped AMC and the channels associated with it, and Viacom was the one acting like total tools in the negotiation.

No, you get the games that are:
A.) Not available on your local affiliate
B.) not blacked out locally for attendance.

So for example, living in Tampa where blackouts are all the rage the last couple of years (though probably not this year)

Bucs were blacked out because they didnt sell out the stadium. Actually they came nowhere near doing so for 5 of the 7 home games. So we'll say one week the Bucs hosted the Panthers. Blacked out for non sellout.

So, at 1pm if Dolphins/Jets was on CBS locally

And at 4pm, Cardinals/Seahawks on Fox and Patriots/Ravens at 4pm on CBS locally

Bucs game, and the 3 on TV are not available on NFL Sunday Ticket.

All of the others are in the clear on NFL Sunday Ticket.
