More new GSN versions of classic shows on the way?

I noticed this little tidbit in BuzzerBlog's article about The Pyramid's debut date.

The network is currently developing revivals of some fondly remember and not-so-fondly remembered game shows of the 80s in addition to other new programs like Beat the Chefs.
I hope this is true. I've certainly got my list of classic formats that GSN should revive.

Wondering if they'll try something like Blockbusters next. I think it's due for a revival and fits well under a cable network's budget.

I think this is great. I would wish for GSN to revive Card Sharks because, that show did well when it was on GSN. Mainly the Perry version but when GSN aired Eubanks in Flashback Fridays, it did well. I would really push for a Card Sharks revival, and hopefully it wouldn't turn out like the 2001 revival.

But, as for other shows, I can't wait to see what GSN revives.

Crossing my fingers for Card Sharks and Blockbusters! Both did well in the ratings when they were on, so why not try some new versions of them.

Card Sharks and Blockbusters I could see happening, Card Sharks especially in the wake of Catch 21 (the "game show that breaks out of the pack" promo for Catch 21 could work for Card Sharks in my opinion). I normally wouldn't hold my breath for Blockbusters, but since it's for GSN, I could actually see it doing well.
Thank you, thank you, thank you GSN for just absolutely rocking these past few months!

This doesn't stand out as anything to me. I don't think Alex would know right now if they will revive more classics, but it wouldn't be at least until the second half of 2013 looking at how GSN is programming their originals right now.

That being said, down the road I would like to see a new version of Card Sharks over anything. Card Sharks can be a good following since a show like Catch 21 has done very well on GSN, and also since Card Sharks can be turned into a game show that does not have a need to give out thousands upon thousands of dollars every episode, like 1 vs. 100 or even The Pyramid.

I should add that he said, "We’ll keep you updated when we’re allowed to talk about what the other shows are". So it does seem like something is cooking here.

I've been lobbying for a Blockbusters revival for quite some time (it did inspire my username after all), and also agree that Card Sharks would be a great candidate for revival. I think they could try another Press Your Luck revival too, this time with a presentation that's a mix of retro and modern, much like the current incarnations of TPiR, Feud, and from what I've gathered, The Pyramid.

Card Sharks without a doubt should be revived, looking at GSN's success with Catch 21. But none of this will happen for a while. GSN's main focus right now is the Fall 2012 television season, with the new originals that are being developed. Otherwise, they have no plans right now to develop any other shows or classics.

I do know what they are developing. I'd just rather not have their lawyers threatening me by revealing info. It's just meant to reassure people that, yes, they are developing revivals like they said they were and not just reality shows.

Well, we have some conformation here. Down the road, GSN is possibly developing, or going to try to develop classic games show, like ones we have talked about here, and revive them to make it to air. Once again, it may be a while before any of this happens, at least until mid 2013 for a premiere.

"Not-so-fondly remembered..." already thinking of shows like Trivia Trap and Now You See It... well, they're loved by most in the fandom but they didn't do so hot originally. I would love a Trap revival if it followed the first format.

Those two are just unpopular and boring to me. I don't think GSN is thinking about those to revive, but more like something along the line of Match Game possibly.

I think it's safe to assume we're never seeing a new Match Game on American television again.

Trivia Trap and Now You See It were really interesting to me, the latter slightly more so than the former. I'd love it if GSN tried their hand at it.

Card Sharks, I can see being revived. But if so, I think they should build a set similar to the 1986-89 version. Plus allow for a maximum top prize of $32,000 like was the case when Eubanks and Rafferty hosted. But to tweak the gameplay a bit, instead of having a best-2-out-of-3 to win the match, the first player to reach $300 would move to the Money Cards. First game would be worth $100, and the second game would be worth $200. Third game would be worth $300, in the form of a sudden death tiebreaker question. Extra incentive bonus raised to $1,000 for an exact guess on a survey question to meet with inflation. And if the ratings do really well, add in the car game, using the Jokers and maybe use 6 or 8 numbered cards in lieu of 7.

I'm afraid someone would ruin the legacy of Match Game forever, but once again in 2009 I have a feeling that Match Game would have done well on TBS
