    Greed The Series

After hosting Love Connection Chuck Woolery hosted Greed The Series {Formerly known as Greed The Multimillion Dollar Bonus} that aired on Fox at the same time as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in 1999 that GSN showed in reruns and it was the only game show that I watched when my TV lost it's ABC channel and Chuck Woolery was so handsome in Greed and I never missed a chance to see him in Greed but actually my aunt who was obsessed with Greed told me about it and I thought it was cool. Why Fox canceled Greed is beyond me and GSN should show Greed reruns again as part of a special Chuck Woolery hour and that would be a great idea indeed,
Does anyone remember Greed The Series?

Of course. Greed should return not just to GSN, but in a new version too in primetime. Dog Eat Dog is still a better acquisition than DWTS, but Greed would be greart

That also means a good quizzer, something we really need on GSN right now. Even with Millionaire at 2am *(now gone)* and 5th Grader isn't enough, we need a show like Greed or syndie Millionaire. But Greed would be something new

I remember seeing Greed maybe 7 years ago. Lingo I like that word "quizzer". I do like games with questions/answers like Millionaire. But Greed was Exciting-when it got up to big amounts and they would lose it one one question. I remember one show in particular where a computer contestant was asked a "tech" question. everyone on the team thought she had it-the captain had doubts but he didn't challenge her because it was her area of expertise-but she got it wrong-and they lost lots of $$$$. I wondered if she got fired as a computer geek, LOL!

With Millionaire gone, Greed is the next best quizzer for GSN. Do I favor "Millionaire" over Greed? YES. I do. But either one of the series would be liked on GSN.

Also, can we even classify 5th Grader as a quizzer?

    Another show rerunned to death.
Greed was alright, nothing too exciting.

IMO, the Million Dollar Question by Curtis Warren was pretty easy. Although, it's pretty worthless now.

It only had 44 episodes. Too bad they weren't a half hour long (with a total of 88 episodes).

Greed is now getting too old to be a modern acquisition.

Greed in my mind was a great series and it was so great to see Chuck Woolery make a comeback to game shows in 1999 after being the host of The Family Channel's Home & Family talk show and I think Fox was very smart to make him the host of Greed because if it's a Chuck Woolery hosted show it's got to be successful. The only thing I disliked about Greed was the opening question because they sometimes were pretty weird like in one of the Greed episodes was about how many stores were featured in the Mall Of America and Mom would always guess it before I did but I was glad they got rid of the opening questions for Super Greed because I felt it slowed down the game a little bit. My other favorite part of Greed was the Terminator round and I loved to say "The Terminator Has Chosen You" along with Chuck and my favorite phrase was also "Do You Feel The Need For Greed" as well. It would be nice to have Greed remade and brought back to TV so we can see it again,
    Vinnie,
P.S. I saw a episode of Greed on my mother's phone on YouTube where a team of three people won the million dollars but chose not to go all the way on Super Greed because they were very happy with their prize. Was this a Greed milestone in the history of the show?

In 1999 I was fairly surprised that Woolery took the Greed job, and the show also went up against "Millionaire" as FOX's response to the hit series.

Greed was definitely one of my most favorite game shows of all time.

Interestingly enough, Greed was produced by Dick Clark. No wonder it was such as great game show.

As we all know, FOX made the stupid decision back in 2000 to cancel it, based purely on speculation. Chance of a Lifetime's ratings were down the drain, and FOX decided to axe Greed as well, assuming Greed's ratings would drop to the same low level. Pure speculation on their part. We don't know whether Greed's ratings would have remained high or not, but we never got the chance to see what would have happened to them, thanks to FOX not renewing it for a 2nd season.

Chuck was also pretty angry about its cancellation. I read on a blog somewhere that he talked about his disappointment of the show being cancelled, and he even made reference to Greed on a later-episode of Lingo, where the answer to the puzzle was, obviously, Greed.

I would personally like to see GSN bring Greed back and if possible create a 2nd season of it, even if it's with lower prize amounts. At least do something before Chuck is no longer here on this planet. He's 71 years old and he won't be able to host game shows for much longer...

Now, switching to Lingofan97's topic for a second, 5th Grader is a quizzer, but I found it more about dumbing down the quiz-style of game show with basic questions. It wasn't nearly as intense as Greed was, even when big money came into play. I think part of the problem was that the music and sound effects didn't bring enough tension into the game, until the Million Dollar Question was in effect. Whereas Greed's music and sound effects brought drama to a whole new level, without having the new "modern" approach of having contestants inject drama by crying and explaining why they need the money and whatnot.

Well sad to say 5th Grader is GSNs best quizzer right now, but it is. 5th Grader from the FOX premiere I always expected to have beginner level questions, considering the show's title and format. But somehow, it lasted longer than Greed.

But if Greed were revived today with the similar format from the original it could last pretty long. Greed to me was 20th Century FOX's response to the success of Millionaire, and Millionaire blew Greed away when it came to primetime ratings, which is why Greed didn't stand a chance. Greed should be revived by FOX, and for the first time in years they need a good game show.

And on GSN, 1 vs 100 would still be a pretty good quizzer

It almost seems like game shows come and go in phases.

Back in the early 2000's, Quiz-based game shows were all the rage. Millionaire, Greed, Twenty-One, Winning Lines, Weakest Link.

Then during the later part of the 2000 decade, Physical Stunt-Based game shows took over. Fear Factor, Dog Eat Dog, Wipeout, Downfall, Minute to Win It, 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show.

Within the past 2 years, NBC and FOX tried to get back into the Quiz-based era with Million Dollar Money Drop and Who's Still Standing, but they botched both of them up.

Now, the fact that GSN is trying American Bible Challenge and Pyramid, both of which fall into the Quiz-based Trivia-type category of game show, leads me to believe there's still hope in a return to Quiz-based game shows in the future. I've always preferred Quiz-based games to Physical-Stunt based games.

This summer, for some reason, the major networks complained about the lack of dating shows on television, so that's why we saw game shows like Take Me Out and The Choice get priority. I'm hoping that one of these years, a network representative will think, "There's a lack of Quiz-based game shows, so we're excited to bring you..."

Everything always comes full circle. GSN could be responsible for starting up the Quiz-based game show genre all over again if we're lucky.

And if that happens, Greed and 1 VS 100 may just make a comeback...
