"Match Game 73" Ever Returning to GSN?

I haven't seen MG '73 on GSN in about 6 years. They're so set on showing MG '74. I've seen all of those and they need to start showing the rest of the episodes. I haven't seen all of MG '73, because GSN skipped so many episodes. I think the last time I remember seeing MG '73 on GSN was in 2006.

Will they ever show the episodes from '73?

I don't know. Perhaps next year when it marks it's 40th anniversary they might do more with MG. Not holding my breath but maybe.

I'm not expecting Match Game '73 back on GSN anytime soon, but we are due for a new lease. Never say never with the first season of Match Game. But for a new lease at this point GSN would probably go for a later season

Since they aired one random episode from 1976 and another random episode from 1977, I bet if GSN were to pick up a different lease of Match Game, it may likely be 200 or 400 episodes from later in the run (anywhere between 1977 to the end of the run, maybe including the "School Riot" episode). Or they may pick up 200 episodes of the syndicated run for all we know.

As for Match Game '73, you may have a better chance of winning the lottery than seeing it on GSN. Be grateful you can see choice episodes on the Internet.

The random 76 & 77 episode is apparently from a Betty White tribute week they did at some point. They've just kept it as part of this lease.

GSN in their cycle of episodes will show the MG76 Betty White episode. Hope for a 200 episode lease soon for MG75 or 76, because that's probably whats coming.

It would be nice to have a regular Match Game cycle airing, then a Match Game PM or Syndicated cycle of episodes running through the schrdule at the same time

I honestly don't expect to see a new lease for Match Game on GSN. Not with the currently direction of new originals and modern acquisitions. I think we really really really got lucky with Pyramid. It's not impossible, but it would be shocking if we see something new on GSN with Match Game.

I can't imagine GSN just dumping classics, and I really hope they don't. We've seen in the past the modern shows don't work too early in the morning. One example now is looking at the decrease in ratings between Super Password at 11am and a modern show, Chain Reaction at 11:30am. GSN should hold onto six pre-1990's shows, and we have six on the schedule now.

Even if GSN dumps Match Game for another classic, it's a big loss but at least it wouldn't be Baggage before noon

I remember when they did that for the 30th anniversary. Of course, this was before they became "The Network for Games" and back when they still aired more than just 1974 episodes of Match Game.

They dumped Card Sharks. Granted, it wasn't a bad tradeoff, but still...

This may be just me, but I highly doubt they'll dump Match Game. It and Family Feud are the two shows the network most frequently associates itself with (50 Greatest Game Shows of All Time, anyone?), and it's been a GSN mainstay to such an extent it would be strange to not see it on the network -- I don't think it's even been off the schedule once since the "Dark Period" ended. I think if any early morning classic's getting dumped, it'll probably be Richard Dawson's Family Feud, though even that's a long shot.
"YOU ON FAMILY FEUD! THIS AIN'T A COMEDY ROUTINE!"

Perhaps you should practice what you preach, Steve.

The "tradeoff" was Card Sharks for Password Plus and Super Password. To me, worth it but I would trade a show like Lingo or even Dawson Feud at this point to get Card Sharks back, one of the best rated classics. I could see another GSN classic revival with Card Sharks

Even with the abuse they've had, at least Match Game deserves better than 8:30am. But at least Match Game does well in that hour. And as other posters have suggested, they should give Dawson a try in the noon hour possibly

That's what I'm hoping for as well, if they continue on with their "developing other '80s formats" thing. Either a revival of that or one of the aforementioned Password revivals would work for me, though I agree about getting Card Sharks back.

Another reason why I doubt they'll be dumping Match Game. As for Feud, that's what they should do, but they probably won't. It would definitely get better ratings at noon, but maybe they feel that's too late of a timeslot for a classic?

GSN can still air classics at noon easily. If GSN wanted to they could air classics up until around 1 or 2pm if they wanted to, but they don't. Shows like Match Game and Card Sharks I can see doing well after 12

I am bumping this thread as we approach the new year. Does anyone believe we might see Match Game 73 and perhaps the rest of the series pop up next year in honor of the show turning 40? If this were most any other show I'd laugh at the prospect, but Match Game still draws decent for its air time.

The closest thing you are going to get for your best variety of Match Game programs is: http://www.youtube.com/matchgameproductions

I just don't see new episodes right now.
