Doesn't shock me. It's not like it's the first game show to use male models regularly.
From the blog with the mentioned photo of a male model and a female model...
Big male-ing deal
Faux tweeted a while back about Drew Carey's hint of male models on The Price is Right. The show has now made it official.
For now it's a one-week-only stunt. They're recruiting a pretty male face to smile at the merchandise in shows taping for the week of October 15th. There's also a web taping for the semi-finalists in the cute guy competition.
My TPiR-indifference has long been on record, so this latest stunt leaves me thoroughly unmoved. I've seen heated arguments on the web and I just don't care either way. It's not a brave new world of gender equality, and it's not the end of western civilization as we know it. It's just a game show using pretty people to show off the prizes. What else is new?
By the way, the picture from the show's website makes it look like the female model is about to drill the male model right in the chest. She doesn't like the new competition? Oh, just kidding.

Good move, GSN, for finally picking up more Press Your Luck and $ale of the Century!
Did you have to make a new thread about this?
You were already complaining about this business in the same thread where TheKid linked to his blog with changes coming to the new season.

Unrelated topic. Moving on...Originally Posted by racingchick1020
One week? I'm surprised this isn't significantly longer, even as long as a whole season. I could see this going as a week-long event every year for a female-themed week with male models, or something of that matter.Originally Posted by CaseyAbell

Unrelated that you bring up a specific topic in an unrelated thread.Originally Posted by racingchick1020
One week only? I can actually see this sticking.
Thank you, thank you, thank you GSN for just absolutely rocking these past few months!
It could most likely be one-week a season/yearOriginally Posted by thunderbird6
True. This would be interesting to see, anyway.

Ratings. I'd be curious to see if they appeal to the current audience. It also depends how much they'll highlight the male modelOriginally Posted by thunderbird6
Oh, really?
Here's the original thread you started earlier in the month. You and Mandy (racingchick) got into it quite a bit regarding the whole male model thing then!
And then, to make it more interesting, you said this...
And now you're contradicting yourself in the start of this thread when you asked, "Why???". So if didn't matter to you circa a week ago, why are you suddenly so concerned now?
tl;dr: Not an unrelated topic, and as you've just seen, I call BS on your shenanigans.
Since this is basically the same thread we had a week ago, I'll just post the same thing I posted in that thread:
Over here among us slightly less insane internet fans, I couldn't care less about the official addition of a male model. Daniel Goddard was, essentially, in the fulltime rotation in S40, and when he wasn't, George Gray would step in to handle some prizes and reveals.
It's already been done. They just didn't announce it "officially" until now.
I'm also surprised this didn't happen sooner. But, I also understand why it may not have happened under the previous regime.
And for a new addition specifically for this thread:
You can almost bet that if the male model is popular in his weeklong audition, he'll be in the fulltime rotation by the time 2013 rolls around.
...and only people stuck in 1986 will have any complaints about it.
