By the way, a little off topic, but the "back to school" episode is airing right now. I'm pretty sure this is a new episode. Just wanted to alert TheKid about this. ;D

No designer stuff yet in this one.

Edit: I didn't see any designer stuff in this one. However, the episode has been very lack luster to say the least.

Oh, I knew about it all along. And I know about what's coming up on the 4th, too. But thanks anyway. ;^)

    No problem. =)

Just in case you haven't seen it yet, I want to provide a minor spoiler about this episode. If you don't want to be spoiled, then don't read it.

Double Cross makes its second appearance. I won't give away the outcome though.

Regarding the male model search that will occur in Season 41...

I think the reason for such male model search is quite simple. They did have a model search contest in Season 37 and when Brandi Sherwood left TPIR in March 2009 and replaced by the runner-up in the 2008 model search contest, Manuela, they did this in an effort to get the ratings back up. I personally think Brandi's last appearances when her pregnancy was showing got not-so-great ratings (except for 2 episodes, hence why they replayed those 2 episodes in July 2009), and replacing her with a younger, attractive, and more energetic model like Manuela (if I recall, she was 19 when she started full-time on TPIR), in CBS's eyes, was the route to go in order to get the show's ratings back on the up and up. Brandi was fired in February 2010 and filed a lawsuit against the show for "so-called" unjust termination due to weight gain from pregnancy, which I believe the producers will win this one like they did with Shane.

But the male model search that will happen, I think the producers are probably cooking up something - they probably now want to get rid of Gwendolyn Osbourne-Smith because of possible sub-par ratings during her last appearances in Season 40. Gwendolyn was lucky to escape from being fired in 2008, but I have a feeling she won't be lucky a second time. Replacing her with a male model, in Fremantle's eyes, is likely a surefire way to replace her with somebody who there is no guarantee of a lawsuit and the male model can retain staying power, whereas a female model, after pregnancy, loses her energy and her metabolism, gains weight, and such return from maternity leave would be detrimental to the ratings, and thus results in possible termination for the female model.

The same kind of model search was used on Bob Eubanks' Card Sharks in the fall of 1988. There was word that Lacey Pemberton was being considered for termination, and after she went on maternity leave in August 1988, they did what I think was a model search, and tried out different ladies every week. When Lacey was threatening legal action against MGP and CBS, the producers overruled, and Lacey came back to the show in December 1988. And it all went downhill from there - in a matter of 3 months, Card Sharks was cancelled. Maybe bringing Lacey back to the show and not looking as great was to blame for the declining ratings and eventual cancellation, perhaps?

As for the Brandi case, I have a feeling that CBS and Fremantle will win this one. Just like they did with the court case brought on by Shane. And the producers probably believe that if it happened to Shane, it will happen to Brandi as well. They just have to come up with the right alibi. Bringing a big Brandi back to the show in 2010, in Fremantle's eyes, would have possibly killed the show by the end of Season 38, and Rat Race would not have happened. The show seems to be doing ten times better with Manuela instead of Brandi.

I am, however, surprised that nobody mentioned anything on G-R.net about Shane losing her court case.

You seriously think that a single, solitary model is the reason why ratings were "sub-par"?

Remember, you're talking to someone who thinks changing the font on the Spelling Bee cards equates to lower ratings...

I have no idea what is going on in his head sometimes.

How about the fact it was getting close to summer, meaning graduations and vacations and all that goes with the start of summer? Logic. Let's have some?
