Time Machine Chefs VS Beat the Chefs

ABC premieres its brand new cooking-based reality competition program Time Machine Chefs tonight at 9/8c.

Coincidentally, this means it will be going head-to-head against GSN's premiere of Beat the Chefs starting next Thursday night at the exact same time.

Thoughts? Also, will you be watching Time Machine Chefs, Beat the Chefs, or neither?

I might tune into Time Machine Chefs just to see what all the ruckus is all about, since it's right after a new episode of Wipeout.

Edit: Looks like it may not be competing head-to-head with Beat the Chefs next week after all. Saw a promo advertising a new episode of Wipeout next Thursday at 9. Who knows, we'll see what happens.

Beat the Chefs. I've been watching some of ABC this Summer and I haven't seen this advertised at all

I tuned into the premiere tonight and it was cheesy, but fun at the same time.

At the start of the episode, four chefs and the host walk into a light-blue-colored refrigerator, and then ABC uses special "Doctor Who" -like lightning effects to make it disappear and travel hundreds of years into the past. The chefs then have to cook dishes using whatever food and utensils they're given. In tonight's episode, there were no ovens, appliances, electricity or water. So they had to create a fire and then cook the duck over it by hanging it above the flames.

And there was no digital clock either to time the chefs. The first competition had a fuse lit, and when it finally made its way to the fireworks and set them off, time was up. The second competition had a candle lit, and when all 4 nails in the candle fell out, due to the wax melting around the nails, that's when that competition ended.

After the first round of competition, one chef is left stranded in the past, while the other 3 travel into another time period.

After the second round of competition, the winner is crowned from the remaining three chefs, and gets to return to the present, leaving the remaining two others behind. No prizes though.

At the end of the show, one of the stranded chefs said he'd need to find a new wife and a new job. I think he was left somewhere in the 16th century.

Hopefully he doesn't alter history too much. :P

Sounds idiotic to me. From what I've seen and heard Beat the Chefs deserves an Emmy compared to this
