What's the best show on GSN? (pt 1 of 4)

    A new segment....

Forget good/bad ratings. Forget rerun abuse. Forget odd gameplay criticism from 30 years ago that are now discussed on these forums.

Out of all the pre-1990's, plus Jeopardy!, what is your most favorite show overall?

They're all good, and The $25/100K Pyramid are my favorite classics on the schedule right now, and I enjoy having Jeopardy on at 11:30am (though I wish it was still on at Noon). I voted for Jeopardy. I like quizzers.

My other favorite is Dawson Feud.

Match Game gets my vote, but either Pyramid is a close 2nd!

If I had to catch one show in mornings now, for me it's Jeopardy! I like the quizzer.

See here's my take on this. Dawson is just old and some say do not belong on GSN. Then, Password Plus is lacking in popularity anyway, but still pulls some pretty good numbers. Then, both Pyramid's are similar, and MG has been the longest lasting classic on GSN. So that's where the poll went....

It amazes me the popularity Match Game still has with people. Don't get me wrong, it is my favorite show, but most of the celebrities have passed away. It is a great show for a good laugh and great piece of entertainment. Yet, it is turning 40 years old next year, at least the 70s version.

    LONG LIVE MATCH GAME!

Not knocking Match Game, but the Passwords and Pyramids edge it out for me, with my vote going to Password Plus.

A 40th Anniversary special is coming up in 2013. Wonder if GSN will do anything?

It's a classic, so probably not

I voted for $100,000 Pyramid, although I like $25K just as much.

When Douglas posted the numbers on Mediaweek forum or whatever it was called, When classics were on from 9-3 Password Plus at 2:30pm when it was on used to pull 300K viewers. Dawson does better in the afternoons, as does Match Game but if I recall when it was on 9am for along time, it did well but also does well in afternoons. It all depends how GSN schedules their shows. Shows do better at different parts.

Old quizzers like Tic Tac Dough (Last aired on GSN 2008-2009) from the 70's-80's bombed probably because the questions were outdated. Wheel of Fortune if I recall also bombed, and the 94-95 season was run into the ground, though that's a puzzle game.

I think people like game shows you can somewhat play along with to, or else why watch shows like Whammy only for the question round. But I like the old Press Your Luck still. So, forget old quizzers, puzzle games work, and word association games.

I wonder how Jeopardy/Wheel hour did at Noon years ago though. That I wouldn't mind knowing.

This explains why GSN shouldn't acquire 1980's Wheel of Fortune, Supermarket Sweep and Shop Til' You Drop, while the classics we have now (with the exception of Dawson Feud) will almost never be outdated
