    Beat The Chefs Gone?

According to the Online Schedule, Beat The Chefs is gone completely. It looks like all of it's airings have been replaced by The Pyramid except on Sunday where 5th Grader takes it's slots back.

Aren't there a few more episodes of this? The show wasn't doing THAT bad... I feel like it will keep one slot (at least) on the schedule. We'll have to wait for updated PDF's or a change to the online schedule to see for sure.

I believe there were 9 episodes order, same as American Bible Challenge, and there were more guest judges to come. I can't tell since the GSN online schedule is screwed up, but looks like 5th Grader also has some more slots back Sunday night

    Just checked the schedule completely.

Beat the Chefs completely leaves the schedule. It's Saturday night 7pm slot goes to Minute to Win It, and the Sunday 8pm and 11pm slots go to 5th Grader (well played for Sunday nights I have to say)

Uhh...the show didn't bomb though. Give it its Thursday night and Saturday 7pm slot back. Look how long it took for them to get rid of Improv, and now this goes away a week after the last new airing

Good riddance if it's gone for good. Should've been on Food Network all along where it could score better ratings to.

Look at the ratings, for GSN is didn't do that bad. Yes, it had a big drop after American Bible Challenge every week, but what...The Pyramid won't?

In fact, from week 3 (Sep. 6) to week 4 (Sep. 13), the audience for Beat the Chefs gained 10%

I'll believe it when I see it. It seems too hasty, even by GSN standards.

I doubt it will keep all of American Bible Challenge's audience, but I could see it retaining considerably more of it than Chefs. I don't think that it would be unrealistic to expect 500K or even 600K numbers for Pyramid on Thursday night. The show did slightly better numbers than Beat the Chefs in the last reported week, in an earlier timeslot and without the benefit of a 900K+ lead-in. Also, unlike Chefs, it largely maintains its lead-in's audience, AND performs better in reruns if the Friday night numbers we saw are any indication.

Well the sneak-peak episode on August 30th got around 450K, so that's good. Maybe in primetime the new episodes can maintain a stronger audience. I just wonder what new episodes they are (celebrity-wise)

This is the exact wording of the GSN e-mail I got today...

Starting week of 9-17 and going forward, we will have the following schedule
    changes:

Thursdays at 9p & 9:30p we will air episodes of The Pyramid, replacing Beat the
Chefs. Note, the 9pm episode of The Pyramid will be a premiere. The 9:30p
    episode will be a repeat.

Thursdays at 12a & 12:30a - we will air The Pyramid (encores of the 9p and 9:30p
    airings)

Saturdays at 7pm, we will air Minute to Win It, replacing Beat the Chefs.

Sundays at 8p & 11p, we will air Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, replacing
    Beat the Chefs.

Sundays at 1am and 1:30am, we will air classic $100,000 Pyramid, replacing The
    Pyramid.

All TBD and blank episodes for The Pyramid have been scheduled for this week.

I'm putting the new 9-17-12 schedule I received up on the blog. I assume a new 9-24-12 schedule will follow but I haven't received it yet.

UPDATE: The new 9-17-12 schedule is now up. The 9-24-12 schedule is obviously obsolete, and I'll replace it when GSN sends out a new e-mail.

Okay, my reaction to the changes. The cooking show was always an obvious stretch for GSN. Not a quizzer, not a word game, not a stunt show. Basically, it was a refugee from Food Network. I thought Beat the Chefs was pretty good myself, but it doesn't surprise me that GSN's audience didn't, er, warm to it. This is a warning for the entire reality slate that has been kicking around in development at the network.

The revolution of rising expectations proceeds. GSN clearly wants the lead-out from American Bible Challenge to perform better. You get 900K numbers, you get greedy for more. 300K+ used to look pretty good. It doesn't any more. And don't get me started on those 100K and 200K numbers.

Crossposted to the blog with some other comments.

I see the new episode of The Pyramid Thursday night is from the Nunez/Jones week, which will air at 9pm, and a repeat episode at 9:30pm.

Also, there is an episode of The Pyramid labeled "New" Sunday at 12:30pm, from a duo of celebrities we haven't seen yet. A little strange.

On the old September 24th week of the pdf schedules, there was a new episode of Beat the Chefs listed with a different guest judge, so it does look like there are more episodes of Beat the Chefs to air

Seriously? What's the point of airing a food show on a network not devoted to food? Sure as heck belongs on Food Network, not GSN.

So hasta la vista and good riddance to Beat the Chefs! I won't miss it for sure!

I'd rather Beat the Clock over Beat the Chefs, IMO!

GSN just sent out the new schedule for September 24-30. I've posted it on the blog.
