    Family Feud with Louie Anderson
    Trivial Pursuit: America Plays
    Card Sharks 2001

Other than STYD and "Sweep", the others don't have a lot of eps. As for all of your picks, who would watch them? Do you not understand what audience GSN is trying to get?

The easiest solution is probably just to bring back the G-T and B&E libraries. It might be fun to have a special marathon/timeslot for the rarer shows, at some point.

To all of you who want to see a slew of classics back on GSN, the chances of that happening diminish after each passing day. If GSN could lease a few shows and air them at 3 in the morning for a limited time, that might work, but don't expect Tic Tac Dough to replace an airing of Deal or No Deal.

I think it would be a good idea to transfer the "Why doesn't GSN show _______________________" thread into the new board. Before anyone asks about Sale of the Century or Classic Concentration, they could read the thread.

Oh, as for airing the repulsive revivals of Temptation, Card Sharks, and Feud (i.e. the Louie Anderson era), keep dreaming. They got poor ratings for a reason. If they got awful ratings first run, what makes you think they can pull good numbers on GSN?

GSN was wise to ask for Karn's Feud, Deal or No Deal, 1 vs. 100, and Million Dollar Password because those shows got decent to great ratings. Balderdash and Identity got laughably poor ratings.

OK, here's how I see it. GSN is obviously after post-1990 acquisitions. Sweep and STYD are great choices. They both had long runs. I would watch GSN again if they had either one of those shows.

I have been crying out for more classics, and better treatment of classics, on this board for a long, long time... If only...

Guess you never got around to reading Kinokima's analysis few months back. Classics worked as well or BETTER than GSN's schedule at that time from 9-3 PM. Not unrealistic to want some classics back during those hours. GSN is dead set against doing this. The slew of non classic failures from noon to one PM is obvious by the ratings ( and I love Lingo). Greg Sumner had the right post about this ( scroll up). Think most of us would be thrilled with B&W returning or getting a few shows like Password Plus , etc back. Really, take away the ratings of Baggage and NG, GSN isn't doing that great. .....agree, those revivals you mentioned wouldn't do well at all.

According to who? It seems like yesterday we were talking about Karn and O'Hurley Feuds doing good numbers and marveling at how well 1 vs. 100 and Regis Millionaire were holding up. I seem to remember that every time Chain Reaction and Lingo get new numbers, people talk of revival.

Yes, but the last set of full numbers we've seen is from the week ending 12/14. Ratings are a fickle thing, and they can change as quickly as the weather. I'm still waiting to see something from the second week of B&W, but Douglas hasn't put them up quite yet.

See Starwheel's comment...answers your question. Of course, feel free to use ratings for 2 months ago. Oh, BTW< has Poker actually topped 300 last few months? Ah...the demo. No, GSN isn't tanking. Yes, remove Baggage and NG and GSN is slipping. BTW, 1 vs 100 isn't setting any records. You better look at all of those numbers.....wish GSN would make new Lingo. I have been begging for years now.

Poker's ratings have been in the toilet for quite some time now. The recent B&W ratings glimpse suggests that those shows were pulling down better ratings than nearly all of the Poker airings, and doing so at 3:00 a.m. ET, no less. If they hadn't sunk so much money into new WPT eps, they wouldn't be in that pickle. The "young male" Poker demo isn't tuning in...they've been watching college football the last few months, more than likely, and will be watching basketball and hockey until the spring. They can also conveniently get their Poker fix over on ESPN. And the constant experimentation in the noon hour has been one big FAIL - I know I've said it a thousand times now, but that slot needs to go to Dawson - he'd keep the MG crowd tuned in, and pull in healthy numbers of his own. (And Password Plus or Super Password would do equally well, were they brought back into the fold.) As for 1 vs. 100, it may be setting a different kind of record, and a dubious one - it seems to be literally face-planting in the ratings, in spite of (or maybe because of???) the constant advertising. Baggage and NG share a common thread - shock value. That typically brings ratings for a time, then it wears thin after a while, when the newness goes away. Lingo actually has a good concept, and an excellent host in Woolery - why they haven't produced more episodes, I don't know. It would have been a much more fruitful investment than the sinking Poker ship, that's for sure.

Poker has been on ESPN for quite awhile. Does well enough to attract the demo GSN desires and much more. Thing no one can realistically argue is the fact the ratings are below 300 ALL THE TIME.If you replaced the name POKER with any other show, it would be canned with those ratings. No doubt. But GSN has put a great deal of money into Poker( see Spring 2010 press release), so it won't be going off. But unless ratings improve significantly, Carey coming to GSN trumpets a new possible outlet that GSN may be heading towards if Poker keeps crashing and burning. There is no way GSN will continue to make Poker shows part of their prime time schedule if ratings stay at BELOW 300. In fact, better get closer to 450. That is why certain posters are pleading with classic fans to protest Carey coming to GSN. Personally, if GSN is going to show comedy instead of Poker, fine with me.Will probably enhance that precious male demo they crave anyway with comedy. But when people suggest Carey coming will signal the end of game shows on GSN, use your head. It's silly and you should read through the true intentions.

I voiced an opinion very much in agreement with yours, but it's over on the Schedule forum...I didn't want to risk being redundant by double-posting it, so it can be found here.

I believe GSN lost revenue and couldn't originally afford to air as many classics in recent years. But GSN certainly did find the right balance when it comes to picking up game shows that offered much higher stakes (such as DoND, 1 vs. 100, and some others). But now I think the variety of modern high stakes games shows is running out of choices. If I recall, there is the 2008-09 season of O'Hurley's Feud they have yet to add to the rotation, as well as the final syndicated season of DoND. GSN may end up adding a 21st century season of WoF in the near future, but they probably have the rights to the 1994-95 season that I think expires next week or soon after that. But other than that, the variety of modern shows to acquire is running out. But seeing GSN may have made a lot of revenue this past year, thanks to Jerry, Carrie, Sherri, and Howie, GSN may be treating us fans to some more classics added to the schedule at some point, but for now it is wishful thinking.

The high stakes shows are starting to become a little stale - the market has been really oversaturated. That might explain the success of something like Steve Harvey's Feud in the syndie market this year, versus the unstable ratings of something like Millionaire. From what I've seen of it, Harvey's Feud seems more oriented to gameplay than big money, and he's probably getting ratings because of that, partially. That might mark a real turn in the direction of the genre. Don't forget, GSN has also made a bundle of money off online gaming, too. If their coffers are fattened up, that leaves them a little room to open the schedule back up to where it was in 2008. I would put my money on seeing WoF and J! back on the late afternoon/early evening schedule in the not-too-distant future, and on them possibly bringing back a few of the classic G-T proven winners, like WML, IGAS, Monty's LMAD, and Password, too. If you noticed, the recent B&W run had better sponsors - even a big name like Kellogg's was on board, instead of the class-action lawyers and scooter companies. It may very well happen.
