Pelle was special......SPECIAL....Flyers win at least 2 Cups with him....Hextall had a few good years. Sadly, his Rookie year was his finest. Bet most of us felt we were blessed with another super goalie when he came along.
Remember the Flyers would NOT trade Ouelette in a deal for Bourque? Gave Av's the Cup Flyers should have had.....HOLY DOMINIC MOORE !!!Thing was, Clarkie and Eddie felt that they could put anyone decent in there and the Flyers would win the Cup....took them about 10 years to get they were wrong.

Hey, Flyers had Beezer, too !!!...well, the Ancient Mariner version.

It's official, folks: Sid the Kid is a Penguin for life. Just signed a 12-year, $8.7 million per contract with the Pens. Despite having concussions and having Flyer fans, aka the Illuminati of "good fandom", hate him like no one else. And rumor has it Pens are looking at Zach Parise and still to deal Paul Martin for a case of Coors Light to Colorado with Clint Barmes :P

And if he gets a concussion that forces him to retire, then what happens? Everyone just looks stupid.

Of course, Rick DiPietro is the poster child for having everything go wrong when one signs a 10+ year contract, so Sid won't be the first if something happens to him...

In the event #87 ends up like the Lindros brothers or Keith Primeau, to name a few, I bet Gary Butthead allows the Jokers -- uh, Penguins -- to discount his salary from the cap. Also, if there's a Crosby type in juniors that would seem to be a sure-fire first-overall pick at next year's draft (in Newark, of all places), Butthead will cancel this coming season and rig another lottery for his favorite team to "win," just like 8 years ago.

And not only that, I would not be surprised if Zach Parise (soon to be pronounced "PAY-rise") and Gary Suter already signed deals last week with the K.G. Birds with Butthead's blessing.

Also, Jordan Staal did not sign a new deal because when he becomes free next year, he will go to the Rangers to be with brother Marc.

2007: Danny Briere signs as a free agent, Flyers acquire Joffrey Lupul and Jason Smith from Edmonton for Joni Pitkanen, Geoff Sanderson, and a 2009 3rd-round draft pick.

2010: Flyers acquire Andrej Meszaros from Tampa Bay for a 2011 2nd-round draft pick.

2011: Flyers sign Jaromir Jagr as a free agent (after missing an opportunity to draft him in 1990 because no one spoke Czech).

Not surprised that Corvo's gone. Bruins said that at some point in time last season. Pouliot signed by Tampa Bay earlier today (after getting traded at the draft). Waiting for the next person to go bye-bye.

Jordan signed same 10/60 mill deal with Carolina. Eric is there and younger brother is in Canes system. My understanding is that he may have signed a shorter deal with Pens ( 4-5 years) but wanted to play with brothers somewhere down the line. Since Canes have 2 Staal's already, this was a natural fit. Pens can't replace him,,,,,,BUT......
My buddy in Pittsburgh confirmed Pens are one of three finalists for Parise. He is NOT going back to New Jersey. AP reports Kings and Wild are in mix, but the three finalists are Wings, FLYERS and Pens......bet you someone named Neko has a big interest in this right now !!!If Parise goes to LA or Minnesota, it would be a shock.....you never know..BTW, his Dad Jean Paul was an All Star for the North Stars and Isles. Excellent player in his day.
Suter is also in play....Parise may make decision as early as today.

When someone talks about Dallas and "WHO Shot JR?'.....kind of hope had something to do with THIS JR !!! IMHO, the reason the Flyers didn't win a Cup was because he killed the chemistry. One of my very least favorite Hockey players. Caused more grief and dissension in locker room than anyone I can recall over last 30 yrs with Flyers. Not even Eric caused that much.

BTW....you'll love this....talking with a reporter on Saturday. Was talknig about Schultz-Rolfe....hmm, cough, ....fight in Game 7. He asked Brad Park years ago why no one helped Rolfe when Schultz was....uh, beating him to a pulp....He said " because no one on the team even liked the b@ st@rd !!" . If you think about it, it makes sense.Ah...the good old days...
