This day in Flyers' history:
Birthday: Rob DiMaio (1968)
Games:
1971: Flyers beat Canucks 3-2 for first-ever win in Vancouver.
1984: Flyers beat Rangers 3-2 in overtime in MSG, the Flyers' first-ever road overtime win in the regular season.
I guess this is a good time to post this...
Hockey Night in Canada / NHLPA Player Poll
Game Show Paradise - welcoming GSN forum members since 5/13/2013!
About the NHLPA poll, most of their choices are valid, but:
1. They think there are 2 arenas in New York -- Madison Square "Gardens" -- and it's the only one not in a warm climate that gets bad grades for the ice surface.
2. I wonder if referee Kyle Rehman knows about Kyle "Hehman" making the best-referee list.
3. I would like to know who the players think is the worst referee -- Geese-Brain Hebert seems to be in the lead this year, with McCreary, Koharski, Myers, van Hellemond, and Newell all retired.
4. As for the instigator rule, obviously not one of the Flyers was asked.
5. As for another Canadian city to add to the NHL, I would choose one from the Maritimes, because their time zone is ahead of the eastern time zone, and no way Quebec City should ever get a team until and unless they make the scoring and penalty announcements in English as well as French, as Montreal and Ottawa do.
6. Should fighting be banished completely? Obviously Crosby, Cooke, Avery, Volchenkov, Kaleta, and the Red Wings were in the 2% voting for the ban.

2004: Flyers beat Atlanta 5-4 on Simon Gagne's penalty shot goal with 1:01 left.
2012: Flyers beat Jets 5-4 on Jaromir Jagr's overtime goal with 43.6 seconds left, after Wayne Simmonds tied the game with 9.7 seconds to go in regulation, the first time the Flyers had won a game after tying it in the last minute since 11/8/2005 vs. Boston. It was also the Flyers' first win in Winnipeg since 4/6/1993 (1-1-1 in the interim).
This day in Flyers' history:
Birthday: Dominic Roussel (1970)
Games:
1980: Flyers beat Vancouver 7-3, with the highlight being a 7-on-7 fight with 5:30 remaining, and with Dave "Pussycat" Williams not being involved, as one more fight would have resulted in his ejection -- and with him on the bench at the time. This game was overshadowed by some hockey game in Lake Placid several hours earlier -- two fantastic results in one day.
1989: Flyers beat Rangers 6-4, with Tim Kerr recording a hat trick against former Flyer goalie Bob Froese.
1993: Flyers tie Detroit 5-5 on Brent Fedyk's goal with 0.8 seconds remaining, in a Flyers "home" neutral-site game in Cleveland before a crowd of mostly Red Wing fans of 13,382 -- either that or the 5,000 Baron fans remembered the Flyers clinching the Atlantic Division there in 1977.
