The classic Newlywed Game Show with Bob Eubanks will always be my favorite.
Mine too. I prefer the 1960's and 70's versions over anything in the 80's or 90's. I wish GSN would show it again. But, with the current version it will probably be years, if ever before we see Eubanks' The Newlywed Game alone. Let alone they won't show the first three seasons of The Newlywed Game right now, where Bob Eubanks guest-hosted twice.
I also preferred the 1960s-1970s version of the show, having seen more of it then while I was in school, as opposed to not seeing much of the later years due to work and no VCR. The original program once had a possible 95 points available, with 4 5-point questions, 4 10-point questions, and a 35-point bonus question, as there were far fewer commercials in the 1960s.
yeah, playing as his wacky character Latka Gravas from Taxi.
but sadly it will never happen since he past away in 1984 due to a rare type of Lung Cancer.

The new version of the show is ok, but just. I loved the Bob Eubanks show, he had a way of looking into the camera when someone said something stupid that made you think he was biting back the thing he really wanted to say. Problem is people were much more naive back then, it's harder to shock people nowadays. Gosh that makes me sound old. But when you have shows like Keeping up with the Kardashians and My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, viewers have seen it all and then some. Still, I do watch it from time to time, but it would be nice if GSN would also run the old Eubanks episodes too.
I, along with many others have been asking for that consistently since around 2009 since the new version started with Carnie Wilson. It's doubtful that GSN would pick up Eubanks' The Newlywed Game, and it's too bad since it is definitely one of their highest rated classics.
Heres my take on what should happen with the sixth season of The Newlywed Game.
I see there is a casting call, and also that The Newlywed Game in the recent press release will follow The Pyramid this Fall. GSN really needs to make the show more appropriate for that time of day, considering it is following a family-friendly show. Of course I dont think the show should be toned down to the way it was in the 1960s, but to a level where it was a few years ago when GSN first revived the show.
There should still be some "bedroom" questions, but nothing that even a teen cant understand. It should be more like "How many times a week do you get in the mood?", while other questions should include family member's middle names, birthdays, the couple's favorite things to do on weekends, etc.
This makes a lot more sense to me for a show only airing at 6:30 Eastern
