Today's episode was the first time in a long while Audrey Landers & Brian Mitchell played Pyramid. The last time for Audrey was in November 1983 on the daytime edition, and the last time for Brian was in early 1986 on the syndicated edition. It was also the last time the announcer said he was "from Trapper John, M.D.", because that show was ending its run.

Trapper John, M.D. was a M*A*S*H spin-off that ran for 7 years from 1979-1986 on CBS.

I saw that at the beginning of the episode. Pyramid at this point needed new celebrities, instead of all these repeats *cough* Markie Post *cough* of celebrities

Well if you go way back to when the 1980s era of Pyramid started, you'll notice that at first, they had a plethora of different celebrities, who either played the game once or more times, and then never came back. And then by 1985, they seemed to have gotten their perfect roster of celebrities, and would add more regulars only on occasion. See for yourself:

For the record, I prefer to think of both 80's Pyramid editions as one show.

By 1985, or even a couple years before "Pyramid" producers probably figured out which celebrities could participate actively in the game, and which could not, which is why they've had a great cast of celebrities in The $25,000 and $100,000 Pyramids

Hey, did anyone catch the Wednesday episode of the week of January 12, 1987? The winner's circle win in game 1 became the subject of flashback intros in future episodes. I'll show you:

For me, part of the fun of seeing clips from flashback intros on this show, is seeing the actual episodes where they came from. I can also say the same thing for just about every other popular game show from the 70s and 80s, including Press Your Luck, and the 70's era of Pyramid.

I'm just hoping The $25,000 Pyramid will do better this week with the new ad. It's been the lowest rated block. Glad to see some people are talking about it.

This is what I've learned from Pyramid this week: According to Betty White, Johnny Gilbert is a terrific kisser! #gawdilovethatwoman

It's July 3rd on The $25,000 Pyramid right now, and they keep talking about Independence Day

Does anybody know why GSN skipped the last episode of the Audrey Landers/Brian Mitchell week?

It was either tape damage, a 4-day week back then, or something to do with Dancing with the Stars. I'd have to say primetime.

Was this the 10:30am run, or the Friday night run?

"Visually Impaired" is more politically correct nowadays. "Blind", I think, is politically incorrect.

He could have said, "the sight of an umpire."

They've skipped a lot of $25,000 Pyramid episodes since May at 10:30am, so I'm not sure what happened. GSN usually don't skip episodes in primetime, unless it was the Christmas themed week.

That's it now, but they didn't have that established back in the 1980's. I don't think it's that big of a deal compared to the battle of Black vs. African American, or Indians vs. Native Americans.

Looking at the schedule PDFs, episodes 1020, 1021, and 1022 were skipped. It wouldn't be celebrity clearance. It seems unlikely to have three "politically incorrect" shows in a row. The shows aired in August '86, so no holidays. Probably chalk it up to tape damage.
